I know I said that Lanyon melting in the new page is horrifying...but I would totally be down with melty versions of Henry and Hyde.
Bring forth more nightmare fuel, artists!!
It’s baffling to me that some people genuinely don’t understand how you can condemn something in reality but enjoy it in fiction when the reason is so obvious: no real person is hurt or at risk of getting hurt in fictional stories.
Gunfight scenes in action movies? Cool as fuck. Actual gunfights? Not so cool, if I witnessed it I would have called the police. A robbery in a video game? May be really fun to play. An actual robbery? Makes me feel sorry for people being robbed and want the criminals to get arrested. Characters with ambiguous sexuality? You can pry my bisexual headcanons for them out of my cold dead hands. A real person with ambiguous sexuality? I definitely won’t make any speculations about their sexuality because that would be pretty disrespectful to them.
Same with fanfiction. Fictional enemies who tried to kill each other multiple times fall in love? That’s my jam, I love me some conflict, drama and angry sexual tension! Actual enemies who tried to kill each other fall in love? Sounds very unrealistic and it sure will never work in real life. A rape scene in a noncon fanfic? I might find it hot. Actual rape? I would be horrified by it because I know first hand how damaging it is to the victim. A fictional 30 years old dating a fictional 16 years old? I can just ignore their ages and enjoy the chemistry. An actual 30 years old dating an actual 16 years old? I would be very concerned and quite disgusted.
The thing that I (and most people I know) find appalling in these situations is a real person being harmed. When you explore them in fiction though? There is no such thing, nobody actually gets harmed because the fictional events are imaginary, not real.
The scariest part of it though? Antis actively wishing harm on real people, suicide baiting real people, calling real poc racial slurs, sending Holocaust pictures to real Jewish people, condoning attempted murder of the real person - remember the needle incident and the comments to it? Over fictional ships. While considering themselves morally superior. If that’s not fucked up then I don’t know what is.
Fiction is a safe place to explore dark things. It’s not real. Reality is real, not words in some fanfic.
Unless the person on the other side of the screen actually tells you that they support fucked up stuff in real life, then what's the problem?

I am a writer of fanfiction, mainly gay fanfiction, and I one day hope to publish gay novels for the general public to consume and enjoy.Now with that small introduction out of the way, I would like to propose an idea to those who want to listen. I am three stories deep into a series entitled: The Feels and Love Series, a The Glass Scientists fanfic that details the strange relationship between Jekyll and Hyde.It's emotional, romantic, sexual, and due to the time this takes place in, difficult to openly express. But as a lover of voice acting and voice actors, I would love to turn this series into a dramatic reading series alongside the written releases...but I cannot do this alone.I need an editor, I need willing and queer voice actors and I need someone who could happily help me out with turning each story into an understandable script. So for the moment, I send the call out to sound editors who would be up for doing this long term project.Now, here are some rules:1: You must be 18 or older, since there is and will be graphic content in the stories.2: Has had past experiences with editing audio.3: Has some understanding of the webcomic The Glass Scientists.4: Is easy to get along with and can take/give feedback.5: Can interact over Google Hangout. I really don’t wanna piss anyone off but I have a few words to say bout that.Now, I’ve read the book and I enjoyed it but there are plenty of perfectly valid reasons why someone might not have read it and is in the J&H fandom for an adaptation instead. Maybe they have a hard time with the really dense language. Maybe they haven’t had time because they’ve been too busy. Maybe they don’t have money to buy the book right now. Maybe they just don’t feel like it. And that’s okay.I just wanna say that there is no wrong way to be fan as long as you aren’t hurting anyone, and you’re not a “fake fan” if you are in the fandom for just an adaptation and not the original. That’s A-okay, my dude. We are all here in this lovely little fandom to support each other and share our love for this story.
