[サンフランシスコ ６日 ロイター] - 対話型人工知能（ＡＩ）「チャットＧＰＴ」を開発した米オープンＡＩは６日、米国内でＡＩインフラを構築する合弁事業「スターゲート」向けデータセンター候補地の評価作業を進めていると明らかにした。
最高グローバル業務責任者のクリス・レハーン氏は、約１６の州が建設に関心を示しており、テキサスの用地は「旗艦」データセンターとなると述べた。
このプロジェクトの最初のデータセンターはすでにテキサス州アビリーンに建設中だ。オープンＡＩでスターゲートの候補地選定を主導しているキース・ハイデ氏によると、同社は年内にアビリーンのデータセンターの一部を使い始める見通しで、今後数カ月のうちにさらなる建設地を発表する可能性がある。
ハイデ氏は「キャンパスの建設地として５─１０カ所程度を検討している」と述べた。

トランプ大統領は先月、オープンＡＩ、ソフトバンクグループ(9984.T), opens new tab、オラクル(ORCL.N), opens new tabによるスターゲートプロジェクトを発表。３社は他の出資者と共に、今後４年間で５０００億ドルを投資する計画で、このうち１０００億ドルの投資を直ちに開始するとしている。

ただその後、中国の新興企業ディープシークが開発した低コストで高性能なＡＩモデルが登場し、大規模なデータセンターの必要性には疑問が生じている。
