Chapter Five

We got our clothes on and followed Dominic back to the store. When we got in, Dominic said, "This is where I leave you. I am glad I was able to help you both."

"So am I," said Sera.

"Goodbye, Dominic," I said. "It was good to meet you."

Dominic nodded and left the store. Almost immediately, Michael burst into the store and said, "Where the hell were you guys?! I looked everywhere for you!"

"Calm down, dude!" I said. "We just came here to get Sera some clothes."

"Yeah," said Sera. "So that I wouldn't walk around looking like - what was your wording, Will?"

"A reenactment of the Pilgrimage," I said.

"Yes, that," said Sera.

"Well, come on!" Michael said. "Phoebe isn't gonna calm down until she sees you. Both of you. The vision applies to both of you."

When we got to Phoebe's house, there were already loads of supernatural beings there.

"Come on," said Michael.

He led us through the group of creatures until we got to the door. It opened and standing there was a tall woman with long brown hair and brown eyes. She pulled us into the house and shut the door quickly. I could hear yelling and banging at the door.

Phoebe sighed and closed her eyes. Then, in a strong Cockney accent, she said, "Blimey, people are insane. One little vision and BAM! They're all at your bloody door."

"Well, Phoebe, this is kinda your first vision since 2020," said Michael.

"All I saw then was that everything would be closed!" she exclaimed.

"And it saved several people's lives," I said. "Hello, Phoebe."

"Ello, Will," Phoebe replied."And 'ello, Princess Seraphine."

"How do you know my name?" asked Sera.

"I had a bloody vision that had you in it, didn't I?" said Phoebe. "And speaking of the vision, I should probably tell you what it was, shouldn't I?"

"You know, probably," I said.

"Well, then," Phoebe said. "Allow me to do so. It was a flash of image like it normally is. Several of those flashes had you three in it, as well as an elf, a Hyde, a Dorian, and an Invisible Man. There was a few flashes of battle with what looked like a splotch of darkness, exfept it kept throwing you around and stuff. Someone was beside the splotch. They were huge with leathery skin and sharp teeth and such. And…" She gulped. "I saw you, Will. You had a stake through your stomach, and a shadowy figure was baring down on you with another stake."

We were all silent. Then I said, "but you never saw me die, right?"

"I suppose not," Phoebe said doubtfully.

"Then I probably don't die, right?" I chuckled. But everyone else was looking at me like I was on my deathbed. Everyone except Sera. She was determinedly looking around at everyone.

"You people are whiny wimps," she said, which shocked Michael and Phoebe out of staring morosely at me. "Death is normal, even for vampires, and besides, Will is correct. You never even saw him die, so stop acting like he's already got a stake in his heart!"

Everyone was quiet again. Then Phoebe burst out laughing.

"Blimey," she said. "You're great, Princess! Alright, we'll stop moping about. Besides, we have a job to do."

"We do?" asked Michael.

"You heard the vision, too, mate," said Phoebe. "We have a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen to form."

"Uh, last time there was one of those was in the 1800s," I said. "And all of that League is dead. Quatermain, Dorian Grey, Dr. Griffin, my mother, Captain Nemo, Dr. Jekyll, Tom Sawyer - they're all dead."

"I know that," said Phoebe. "We need to form a new League. We need an elf, an Invis, a Dorian, and a Hyde."

"Well," said Sera. She looked at me. "We may know where to find an elf."

"Wha - oohh," I said, understanding. "Dominic?"

She raised an eyebrow. "Noo, I mean Elrond."

I grinned. "Is that sarcasm I hear?"

She grinned back. "I think I'm finally starting to get your time."

"How do you know about Lord of the Rings, though?" I asked.

She looked confused. "I do not know what that is."

"Anyway," said Michael, interrupting our banter. "I think I know where to find an Invis."

"And I a Hyde," said Phoebe.

"Well," I said. "It sounds like we've got a plan. Let's do this."

* * *

As Sera and I left the house, we transformed into birds and flew off, Sera a raven and I a falcon.

"A falcon? Really?" she chittered at me. "Self-centered much?"

"A raven? Emo much?" I cawed back.

She laughed, and even thoough she was a bird, I could hear her laugh, which I still found beautiful.

"You are such a ridiculous man," she said.

"Do you know where Dominic could be?" I asked, smiling.

"I don't know," she replied. "A good place to start would be that forest he took us to."

"Pretty sure that was Yellowstone," I said. "We can start there."

"Alright," Sera said.

We transformed in midair into eagles and flew to Yellowstone.

Why did we transform into eagles, you may ask? The answer's simple. Eagles fly faster.

In about 6 hours, we were at Yellowstone. When we got there, we transformed back into humans. Immediately, Sera staggered and fell into my arms. I was barely hanging on as it was, and I fell with her. We landed on the ground, her head on my chest.

What? We were tired! How about you try to fly from London to Yellowstone in 6 hours?

"I'm hungry," she said weakly.

"So hungry," I agreed.

Then we were out. When I woke up, it was the afternoon. The sun was well in the sky, and Sera was lying on me, eyes closed, mouth open. She was breathing deeply, and I could see her chest moving. I lay my head back and let her sleep. The Lord knows we vampires could do with more sleep. In not too long she woke up and looked at me. Then she looked at the sun and jumped up, but she fell back down immediately.

"I…I need blood," she whispered.

I climbed to my feet. I guess stamina was included in the abilities that were enhanced for me, because I didn't fall to my feet.

"Let me catch something," I said. "Then we can drink."

Sera nodded and lay her head down.

I walked into the forest and saw a deer. I ran after it and transformed into a vampire. I caught it and brought it to where Sera was lying. When she saw it, her eyes gleamed and she transformed, too. I sat the deer down and said, "You first."

Faster that I could see, Sera jumped at the deer and drank. In a little bit, she was done, and it was my turn. When there was no more deer blood left, we transformed into wolves and ran into the forest.

Yeah, this is where we went, I thought.

In not too long, we found the lake where we seperated. We transformed back into humans and started calling for Dominic. In not too long, he came out of the forest.

"Hello, Will and Seraphine," he said.

"We're putting together a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen," I said. "And we need an elf."

Dominic thought about it for a second. Then he said, "This has to do with the Seer's prophesy, doesn't it?"

I nodded and Sera said, "We need to have an elf. Will you come?"

Dominic thought about it again. Then he said, "Yes. Let us go."

He opened a portal to Phoebe's house and we stepped through. In a second, we were at Phoebe's door and we walked in. Phoebe and Michael were standing there, along with another man.

"We've gotten the elf," I said.

"This is the Hyde," said Phoebe.

"G'day," said the Hyde. He had an Australian accent. "I'm Arnold Jekyll. Dr. Jekyll was one of my ancestors."

"I thought so," I said, and shook his hand. Sera shook his hand, as well. "Where is the Invis?"

I felt a sharp pop on the back of my head, and heard a female Israeli say, "Right here."

"Why'd you pop me?" I asked.

"Cause ya can't see me, so you need to know where I am. I'm Liz David. I was born in the US, but my parentswere from Israel and I grew up there."

"You'll be pretty tough, then," I said.

"Yup," she replied.

"Well, then," Sera said. "We seem to have most of our League. We just need to get a Dorian."

"Luckily for us, I know where a Dorian is," said Dominic.

"Well, then, let's go," I said.
