When the Nigerian government endorsed the Samoa agreement with the European Union in June, rumour swirled over an alleged LGBTQ clause in the accord. Here are 10 things to know about the agreement.

After Nigeria signed the Samoa Agreement in June, a rumour began to circulate about an alleged LGBTQ clause that effectively meant the country had legalised same-sex relationships. While there is no such cause, the rumour opened a pandora’s box on the subject across the country.
