... you know, I've had this book on my computer for years and simply never got curious to check what the text pages of it could POSSIBLY be - meaning you've just alerted me to a piece of Death Note content that I didn't know existed, despite having it.

I did not believe this was still possible, THANK YOU.

It's clearly movie-verse all the way through since movie-only characters F and K are featured in the backstory, but still interesting for the lore that Watari developed a specific metal that is used in most electronics and that is the invention he got rich for!

Do you happen to know any casual clothes that Light wore in the series? The only things I remember are from his train station "date", what he wore when he lost his memory, and what he wore on a cover of one of the manga.

I ask this because I’m cosplaying Light and I don’t want to do school or end series Light as it would be too expensive.

Publishing this because I’ve noticed that whenever I do private answers images tend to just… not work. Also everyone needs to look at Light’s nerdy wardrobe, clearly. I love it so much.

But yeah, Light has a large number of casual outfits in first Arc and then just does his suit / dress-shirt thing through most of canon, so here’s some casual Lightos from Arc 1. Color!Manga-version, because I don’t have anime references as readily available. They might be colored differently there, hmh.

You seem to be the expert on all things Death Note, so I thought I'd ask: How tall are Shinigami? They seem pretty big (around 6ft or more), but some of them look small (Gelus looked pretty tiny, but he was kneeling the whole time, wasn't he? We never saw him at his full height). Did the prostitutes touch the notebook? I saw they were huddling against the wall, but it makes no sense for them to touch it since they have nothing to do with the investigation. They were probably scared because the men were shooting at Sidoh, but I can’t tell. Also, do you think they would have left by Rod telling them to leave as soon as they processed the whole situation?
I always assumed L was writing with a dry erase marker because they weren't supposed to write anything down in that scene? (Or maybe he's just gonna cover it up with stars and "L wuz here")

Hi! Random question, but is there anything in the Death Note manga or anime that shows how long L and Light's fingernails are? I always imagined L's short and Light's a bit longer than his, but I wonder if there's canon evidence. You seem quite knowledgeable on these types of things.

You’re right, this kind of detail-obsessed question is right up my alley and I sort of squealed seeing this because I love focusing on stuff like this.

That said, I don’t think artists pay a lot of attention to the length of finger nails unless they are plot significant (i.e. a character with claws), so I don’t assume Obata really intended there to be a difference in their nails.

Gladly! Sorry it took so long, I was quite busy with family issues and exam studying, but hopefully you didn’t need your cosplay plans ready in just a few days, haha. I’m really sorry, but I disregarded the parts of this ask that referred to any of the three live action adaptions because manga/anime is already a tremendous task and I am far less well-versed in any other versions of canon.

But with manga and anime, I gave it my best for you.

The concept art shots are all from Death Note Volume 14, the animation guidebook. I just cleaned up the scans a little, but I did not scan it.

Another thing of note is that the color manga’s coloring choices were likely not decided by Obata as they sometimes openly contradict his art - it is an official version of canon, but not the be-all-end-all in canon color choices. I tried to contrast the changes that were made to Misa’s outfits between the adaptions so you can decide on which you’d rather cosplay. (I am missing some detail reference shots though, so if you decide to cosplay a version I’d recommend reviewing the scenes for yourself to catch everything!) Now…

I was wondering, where does near live post-kira case? does he stay in japan in the previous L's headquarters after spk disbanded?

Where exactly he lives isn’t stated, if I’m not missing any major sources.

I am very sure that he doesn’t stay in the old Task Force HQ though, given we do get one glimpse of the outside of Near’s building:
