SETH

Gasoline, lighter, done. Don’t think about it, don’t think about it…

I ran over the directions in my head one more time, blocking out the feelings of guilt that tried to seep through my defenses. I’m not sure why I felt so guilty about it; I mean, he told me no one would get hurt this time. That it was just a message, or a warning. Not that I believed him… And yet there I was, carrying two jugs of gasoline in the middle of the night, lurking around in the shadows like some kind of pyromaniac.

I looked nervously over my shoulder, even though I knew no one would be following me. I was in the outskirts of the city heading to a construction yard. In the distance the large cranes and other equipment were casting eerie shadows on the ground, which did nothing to cure my uneasiness. As I approached the fence enclosing the area I set down the heavy jugs, hearing the liquid slosh inside. I pulled out a pair of wire cutters from my coat pocket and put my hand on the chain-link fence to hold it in place.

The wire snapped easily, as it was already brittle and rusted from lack of care. I pulled out the square I had cut and the metal scraped loudly against itself. I paused.

No one’s around to hear you, idiot, I reminded myself.

I shook my head and retrieved the gasoline before stepping through the entrance I had created. I made my way swiftly across the construction yard, almost stumbling a couple times from the combination of uneven ground and the sloshing jugs I was carrying.

When I had reached the small building at the end of the construction yard I stopped, barely within range of the security camera mounted outside. I pulled out a gas mask and slipped it over my head, carefully adjusting it until it fit right. Then, I stepped in the camera's range and began to lay a trail of gasoline on the ground.

Once I had finished I tossed the empty jugs aside and turned.

Smile for the camera...

Still facing the security camera, I took a small lighter out of my pocket and flipped it, allowing a small flame to emerge from the top. Then I dropped the lighter to the ground and walked away calmly, giving a small nod of satisfaction as I heard the flame catch on the trail of gasoline. When I was sure I was out of camera range once more I glanced back and began to run. I didn't want to be around when the place went up.

A/N: Hey, sorry I haven't updated in a while. I just haven't really thought about it much. <.> I am determined to finish this story though, so bear with me.  Oh, and by the way, never stop writing in the middle of a chapter. Ever. -_-
