Heyo everyone! I have a wee question for you about game genres. Specifically, we've been seeing a deluge of deckbuilders lately, and I want to know how people feel about that! Now, to open things up, I'll point out that I enjoy deckbuilders as a genre (I wouldn't make videos on them if I didn't XD), but with so many demos recently including deck-building elements, I've noticed a growing number of people commenting that they're starting to feel a bit burned out on the genre. I can understand that feeling; it'll happen with anything if you do it enough. But I'm curious how many people feel the same way. Comments aren't a good test for that, as it's much easier to feel engaged enough to post a comment about something you dislike than something you like. So, I'm hoping a poll (a simple click of a button) will reduce the barrier for entry on this topic enough that we'll get a better sample size and, thus, a more accurate idea of where the general feeling towards deckbuilders lies within the community. Wondering where the WildFront video crept off to? Not to worry, seems the game uses a bunch of copyright music and sadly YouTube's AI powered 'music erasure' tool isn't quite there yet. So after some feedback about it being a bit jarring where the music had been stripped out, I'm just going to quickly re-render the video and upload it. Unfortunately, it'll be without game audio (no easy way to pull sound effects out of the audio tracks, and the game is /riddled/ with music that's getting flagged by content ID) but you should still get all the important bits from the commentary :)

Heyo everyone! I hope you've all been having a great weekend! Thanks for your patience with regard to the lack of videos these last few days. While working on my current video project, I slipped and fell down an editing rabbit hole that led to learning a whole new piece of software XD So, while I haven't had a video to show for the last two days, moving forward, we should see improvements to my current videos and even some new video projects that were just out of reach before! That said, you can expect a fresh first-taste video up on the channel tomorrow, so keep your eyes open for that :) Cheers!

The second worst time for a recording issue to occur... Sadly, my video for the 7 Days to Die multiplayer finale is unusable D: Amusingly (in a sad laughter kind of way), I wasn't the only person having issues during the recording. So perhaps the real boss of 7 Days wasn't the zombies after all XD But I'm looking into solutions, and if possible, I'll snag the video from someone else's perspective. But expect a little delay in getting the last few episodes up on the channel. I'll keep you posted :)

Heyo everyone. I hope you're all doing well. I wanted to take a moment to share some personal news with you. As some of you might have seen on Discord, I recently had to say goodbye to Midna. The last of the mischievous trio that I first shared videos of 7 years ago. Over time, all three of them developed Lymphoma, one of the common ailments that can affect ferrets as they age, alongside Adrenal disease and Insulinoma. With each diagnosis, we became better at recognising the signs early and providing the care they needed. As a result, Midna lived the longest of all three; on the one hand, this brought many more moments of happiness, but it also meant she endured the illness and the effects of the treatments for much longer than Ciri or Tali had to. Ultimately, Shelab and I made the difficult choice to prioritize her well-being and let her go peacefully. We didn't want her to merely survive, but to truly enjoy the life she had. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you for your patience during this time. Your messages of support and sympathy have been a great comfort to both Shelab and me as we’ve been working through everything and caring for Ares and Athena, Midna's cage mates, as they process her absence in their own way. Regarding the content on my channels, whether it's here or on Aavak After Hours, I'm planning to resume regular uploads in the coming days, though don’t be too surprised if you catch a stream sooner rather than later. Good company is a warm cup of tea for the soul, and the dapperlings are always good company. Again, thanks for all your kind messages and patience; they mean a lot. Take care.

In our Clanfolk series, the clan is entering its third summer, and along with all the other seasonal chores, we have a few projects to consider. But, if we hope to keep the job lists even moderately manageable, I think we're going to have to focus and prioritise these larger projects! Heyo dapperlings, As I was preparing today's Cosmoteer video I found that it (and the following video, tragically) had both been recorded without commentary because of a Windows Update that changed my mic source T_T So, no video today as I fix things, but turning lemons into lemonade (that I can drink while sat in the middle of the fire that is my upload schedule) I’ll use the old footage to make a build montage for a new video, as I’ve done with previous streams, then we can just spend the next video testing the new design out! :) But rather than leave you empty handed, here’s a sneak peek of the design for the DPR 4!

Heyo Dapperlings! Hope you all had an awesome weekend, and the new week has opened strong for you. Mine was busy (as usual) but had a load of fun with the rebuild of the Scarab, and the Rimworld stream… even if Randy broke the 4th wall and decided to attack the colony by attacking my allergies directly, the cunning devil XD Catching up on some reading today #WorkLifeBalance as I fell a bit behind over the last week with all the Cosmoteer videos, but getting towards the end of Berserk Volume 6, so I see a trip to the bookstore to order the next three volumes in my near future. But speaking of Cosmoteer, while I’m repainting the Scarab and collecting my ideas for the Fire Ant redesign, I figured I’d pop a poll in here to get some feedback. Do you think we should keep the Fire Ant design a bit more compact by foregoing missile manufacture on the ship in favour of stopping by the Hercules to re-arm after every couple of engagements, or do you think building the Fire Ant for more long-term deployments with its own missile production capabilities is the way to go? Once you’ve cast your vote, let me know your reasoning in the replies… and while you’re down there, tell me what you’re reading at the moment if you want, might help me pad out my TO-READ list a bit more :D

Heyo everyone! There was a work crew digging up the main road outside my house today (and might be there tomorrow XD) to resolve an issue with the water mains so recording had to be a patchwork between bursts of thunderous noise outside my office. As such, I got a bit behind and at this point I think it will be better not to rush and instead aim to pop up the next video tomorrow at the regular time. This will give me more time to get the editing right, hopefully you’ll find the wait well worth it :D But as a few of you asked about Tilly following the last episode, here’s a cosy picture of her across from me on the couch keeping me company while I work on the video :)

Heyo everyone. Got some good and bad news. Starting as is tradition, with the bad: No new video today. Now onto the good: The reason there’s no new video is because I had to take Ares to the vet for a short notice check up because I could see what looked like lumps on his neck (the same sort that were precursors for Ciri, Tali, and Midna’s lymphoma) But it turns out bendi boi is just packing on his winter weight and going through a coat change and all is well. Took his sister in for a checkup too since we were going, and both he and Athena are the picture of good health. So… false alarm, sorry I wasn’t able to get a video out in time, but my mind was a bit all over the place preparing for the worst news and now I’m a big post-anxiety-relief pancake. New vid tomorrow, same time as usua, and in the meantime here’s a pic of the them waiting to go in for their appointment as compensation for the delay :)

Heyo Dapperlings! Here's a quick update regarding Farthest Frontier. A lot of you know I'm planning to have a series here on the main channel, and I've been chomping at the bit to get it started, but currently I'm holding off for a very specific bug to be addressed. The dev is working on it right now (saw a post regarding it just an hour ago) so hopefully the next hotfix patch will resolve it! The bug in question is that fields will sometimes forget how many farmers they have assigned, but the farmers will still consider themselves assigned, leading to the population overview showing 6/6 farmers for instance, but only one field has 3 farmers working it. It can lead to silly jank, like being able to assign -3/6 farmers, or needing to manually add farmers back to the mystery field, and having 9/6 farmers assigned xD While learning the game, both of my streams of the game have been struck by the same bug, and I'm not sure if there's a way to avoid it. But others who have encountered it tell of the slow accumulation of 'farmers' who do no work but need to be fed gradually grinding their settlement to a halt -_- So rather than start a series that might need to be abandoned due to a known bug that will hopefully be fixed pretty soon, I'll err on the side of caution and try to practice my patience a little bit. As per my latest episode of Stardew Valley, which of the multi-harvest crops you think we should focus on in Summer? While I know a lot of people swear by the return on investment for blueberries, I think there’s much to be said about corn and its multi-season harvest, or peppers for their culinary utility! Heyo dapperlings! To cut a long story short; I’m fine, I have been rebuilding my PC following some comments about electrical whine in my videos. Tracked it down to a fan connector of all things, and also while I was at it, upgraded my 240mm AOI CPU cooler to a 360mm to tide me over until I have time to build a full loop liquid cooler. Has been a bit of a staggered rebuild, due to delivery back-and-forths and there are still some parts due to arrive (Ryzen 9 5950X... and maybe a new GFX card in the following days, if my conscience allows lol) Uploads will continue once I’m satisfied the problem is solved. In the meantime, I'm going to test things out a bit with a random stream. Not sure what we’ll play, and may hop between games to test things, but do feel free to come say hi over on Twitch :)
