Digital Twins in factories for operations functions such as the supply chain are becoming more and more common. The market for them is set to top $250bn by the early 2030s, from around $18bn predicted in 2024. But what about Digital Twins of the whole business? Business simulations have been around for decades but easier access to relevant data means it is possible to create Business Digital Twins. Accessible, real-time models of the strategic components of a business could revolutionise business planning, decision making and C-suite ideation in the same way huge advantages are being extracted from simulating the more discrete processes at the operating level. I don’t think we’ll see CEOs being replaced by a digital twin any time soon, but in future they might be shunted aside if they don’t reap the learning from them.

“…in manufacturing and supply chain alone, [gen AI] could reduce expenses by up to half a $trillion.”    This article shows the wide-ranging opportunity of gen AI within supply chain, across three buckets that have parallel applications in distribution:  - Content generation (e.g. automated documentation)  - Insight generation (e.g. delivery updates, process management, warehouse design)  - Interaction (e.g. automated inventory reordering)  A big takeaway for me: those who move quickly from concept to pilot are seeing quick adoption too, and asserting themselves with a first-mover advantage.   #Distribution #GenerativeAI #Productivity
