The Allahabad High Court Bar Association on Friday (March 21) slammed the Supreme Court collegium's decision to transfer Delhi High Court judge Justice Yashwant Varma, who is embroiled in the cash recovery row.

In a four-page letter, the Bar Association of the High Court said it is not a trash bin and it would not accept corruption. "Presently, we are facing so many problems particularly shortage of judges resulting into fresh cases not being heard for months thereby diminishing the faith of public in the rule of law but it does not mean that we are trash bin. We are not ready to accept corruption," the letter said.

The Supreme Court collegium headed by Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna has reportedly decided to transfer Justice Varma from the Delhi High Court to his parent Allahabad High Court following the incident.

Justice Varma, the second senior-most judge of the Delhi High Court, did not hold the court on Friday, a news shared to advocates by his court master.

A senior advocate also mentioned Justice Varma's issue before Delhi High Court Chief Justice DK Upadhyaya, expressing pain and shock over the incident.

Justice Upadhyaya shared the view and said, "So is everybody. We are conscious of the..."

Justice Varma was currently heading a division bench, which was dealing with cases of sales tax, GST, company appeals and other appeals of the original side.

He was enrolled as an advocate on August 8, 1992. The judge was appointed as an additional judge of the Allahabad High Court on October 13, 2014.

According to official information, he took oath as a permanent judge of the Allahabad High Court on February 1, 2016 and was appointed as a judge of the Delhi High Court on October 11, 2021.
