About GOOD CYCLE JAPAN
Based on the concept and plan of Japan's first "bicycle",
Let's encourage everyone in Japan to use bicycles more and more.
We aim to create a happy life and society for the future.
That is GOOD CYCLE JAPAN.
The idea of placing value on how much one lives a decent life and finds happiness in life is spreading around the world today . This is the idea of "QOL" (Quality of Life).
The act of moving is no exception, and it is not just about speed and efficiency.
The use of bicycles is gaining attention in many countries around the world as a form of mobility that contributes to quality of life.
Bicycles are an environmentally friendly form of mobility, and they also promote health through cycling.
It is also a communication tool that enriches leisure time, broadens people's activities, and facilitates interactions with the local community and connections with friends.
In fact, in Japan, the Bicycle Promotion Act was enacted in December 2016.
This is a groundbreaking "conceptual law" that calls for the proactive use of bicycles, rather than the restrictive laws of the past.
Based on this law, the Bicycle Promotion Plan was approved by the Cabinet in June 2018, and the government:
We have decided to work with local governments, companies, and private organizations to concretely promote the use of bicycles.
"GOOD CYCLE JAPAN" is the name given to this all-Japan effort.
If more people ride bicycles, a positive cycle of "happiness" will occur in Japan!
We will promote development mainly in four areas: environment, health, tourism, and safety.
So why not get on your bike and pedal away to new happiness?

To achieve this, various public and private stakeholders from all over the country will work together to develop a cycling environment that can be proud of on the world stage, both in terms of hardware and software. Cycle Safety
Aiming to realize a safe and secure society without bicycle accidents
We aim to achieve zero bicycle traffic accidents by promoting bicycle safety education, encouraging cyclists to follow traffic rules, and encouraging pedestrians and motorists to understand and respect the characteristics of pedestrians and motorists and the traffic rules, creating a safe and secure traffic environment. In addition, to reduce traffic accidents caused by unexpected bicycle breakdowns, we support the creation of a system in which manufacturers and bicycle retailers can supply users with safe, high-quality bicycles during the manufacturing, shipping, post-shipment, and sales stages, as well as after sales.
The measures to achieve this are as follows:
-
Development of bicycle-only roads, etc.
-
Establishing a supply system for highly safe bicycles
-
Developing human resources who contribute to bicycle safety
-
Education and awareness raising regarding traffic safety
-
Establishment of a system for effective use in times of disaster
