Finally was able to finish that comic I did for school titled The Bench-Rider!
It’s a short 10 page comic that hopefully I can sell at Denver Comic Con, I might have a bit of trouble with where I get it printed but we’ll see.

Ah ok, if it’s cool I’ll just give you the ones for characters that have been introduced so far or are not spoilers.
Henry’s definitely bisexual, there’s no real getting around that.
Hyde’s pansexual, I suppose that’s maybe weird because his is different than Henry’s but yeah.
I change Al’s from what I originally had planned to biromantic demisexual, I dunno, I just find it matches him better (sorry I hope that’s cool).
Molly’s hetroromantic asexual for sure.
Oswald’s biromantic asexual, like don’t even mention anything sexual to him he hates it.
Randall’s aromantic, like he’s never had any interest whatever in romance.
Ok, I guess Annmarie hasn’t been introduced but she’s pansexual. It’s not really a spoiler so yeah.
Oh and Tobias is gay. There was a scene earlier where I planned to mention that but it came off as weird so I’ll have a scene to mention it better later.

Oh thank you so much! I won’t lie when I say that I dunno how good I am advice-wise with storyboards but I’ll do my best!
Ok so one thing I think is super important is to plan it out. It doesn’t have to be exactly how you’ll do the final version, it’s more a way to get the flow of how it goes:
Here’s some of mine for the TSFHJ version (sorry the first one scanned in weird). Like I said it’s just something use as a general guide to where the video goes (and there definitely are parts that were cut/shortened/extended, etc, but it’s enough so you don’t go into every next frame blindly.)
The next thing I’d really recommend is keeping it simple- I guess that might be weird coming from me because I did not do this the whole time, especially with TSFHJ version, but that’s ‘cos I wanted to go overboard. In most projects that are made after a storyboard they’re certainly bound to be very detailed, which means full backgrounds and correct flow of movement, etc, but that isn’t really what’s wanted in a storyboard (at least not from what I’ve seen.) Like you might notice in mine that not all the frames have backgrounds and that’s because unless the setting area changes or the character directly interacts with elements in the background than I don’t believe I need to draw it in a storyboard. Like here’s some examples of that from mine below:
And the other thing regarding how the movement of a storyboard works is that you should not treat it like a full animation. For example, to show a character walking from point A to point B you would not draw the full walk-cycle frame by frame of it happening. You would most likely just have the frame of them at point A and the frame of them at point B instead. People are smart, like they could usually read that as that the character moved from A to B. This may give it all a very “choppy” look to your storyboard but storyboards are (at least for me) only about showing what is absolutely necessary and nothing more.
Also the last thing I want to say is really get to know what audio(s) may be in your piece. With the two songs used in mine, for example, most of my frames would fit into one line of the song. Certainly this would not always be the case but my sketches above you can sort of see that most frames were meant to follow around certain lyrics.
That’s really most of the advice that I think I have, I hope that this all makes sense for the most part! Like I said, I’m not a professional in learning how to do a storyboard/animatic- I studied illustration so I learned nothing of how to do this sort of thing. I just figured out how to do it more on my own.

gabrielied Follow Just a smal updateOk then, so I’ve probably mentioned once or twice but I’m going to be graduating at the end of this month which means I’ve got a lot on my plate at the moment. Ironically though the heaviest stuff will mostly be this week because I have graduation gallery on Friday. So I’m going to be spending most of that week working on that Confrontation video since that’s the last piece I’ll have in it as well as: getting a print for one of the other pieces, getting the mattings for them, buying and organizing business cards, getting the video to work with tv, etc. Long story short is don’t expect any updates until after Friday but hopefully then I can get the rest of the pages in as well as finally start selling stickers.Oh, also I’m happy to say that I should be able to share a booth with some school friends at Denver Comic Con so I’m going to be super busy getting all that arranged and getting ready for that (especially since it’ll be my first convention that I’ve ever had a booth.) With any luck, this will give me the chance to start getting hand copies made of TSFHJ to sell both there and online for you guys! I should hopefully also be able to sell my other comic short story- The Bench Rider.Hopefully it will all go smoothly but it’s been/ is going to be really hectic and stressful for me, so I hope you guys are ok with having to wait some on some updates.
