Would be nice if instead of closing the servers down they just made it a single player game not like we really need other people to play this game.

Edit: BAHAHA GAME DIED CAUSE DEVS DIDN'T LISTEN.

PC/Mobile PlayerDon't get it twisted, this is a Gacha game with layers of RNG for those who wish to get into the endgame portion of the game. While the base game itself is enjoyable and gameplay, you'll find very little to do once you've completed the main story. After hours upon hours of endless rerunning of "Ruins", dungeons, you'll be lucky to find even 1 or 2 worthwhile Moumon to keep. Those that you keep still have a chance to end up being tossed away due to the RNG there is for initiating skills from characters. This game off the bat seems f2p friendly with the 4-star selector they provide you, but that is pretty much all you get. The monetization model of this game is to charge you per character/character-bundle. You CAN NOT earn additional 4-star characters by any other means no matter how much time you put in, unlike other Gacha-games where you can eventually save up and pull/roll for them. If the Developers of Volzerk want this game to grow and succeed, there needs to be alternative ways for players to unlock new/more characters. Even if you end up buying the best characters and rolling the best Moumons, you still end up feeling empty inside once you realize the Developers made any competitiveness void as the only ranking system in this game, the Monster Challenge Cup, a waste of time. Getting 1st place in this "intense" PvE boss rush nets you a small sum of gold and a unique title. Because there is no 'freemium' currency, There is no real reason to push yourself to hit higher ranks nor even participate in them since the gold farming dungeon nets you twice as much gold than 1st place's reward in easily less than 10 minutes.Game rating: 5/10 - If the Developers bothered to communicate with players to improve their game, I could see Volzerk becoming a success. As it stands now, there is no official Twitter or Discord community which they could really use to actively listen and respond to players who love Volzerk or even provide daily/weekly updates on what they're working on. Volzerk also desperately NEEDS a co-op mode so you can battle alongside your friends or other players. A big boss fight co-op mode would be AMAZING for this game and would definitely get the attention other people to try and pick up this game. My number 1 wish for the Volzerk Devs. to implement is add additional ways for F2P players to earn/unlock other 4-star characters. This is really driving away many players since if you can't unlock other characters then there's nothing really left for you to work towards or look forward to as you play the game.

a game I loved, but is being shut down due to poor monetizations and server usage decision.

99,99 % of this game was a solo experience, with only 2 functionalities being truly online : a now defunct boss battle time-trial with a leaderboard, and the possibility to use the monster breeding system in multiplayer to use one less monster and share the result with a friend.

This game could and should have been a simple pay once, play forever game. But it followed the trend of live-service / gacha games without getting the success nor the support necessary to handle it.

I loved this game, the characters, the monsters designs, and some of the concepts. But it will be no longer playable in two weeks. No new player can access it already.

This was an incredibly fun game. It reminded me a lot of monster hunter stories. i only just recently found out that the servers have closed, as of making this review. only way i found out was by me trying to boot up the game again after taking a long break from it. So, over view time:

-the breeding was super convoluted. There were different monsters that you had to fuse together, in a specific order, AND make sure that you have all of the passive stat buffs that very few monsters have or else you're just going to have a weaker version of what you could get (and that doesn't include the passive skills that you could've passed down with the parents or just get a random skill by chance

-all characters were purchasable. No, it wasn't gacha. You just look for the character you want, pay the price they're worth, and you get them. No having to deal with duplicates or artificial level walling to get you to spend more money on the game.

-the monsters were pretty unique and even had variants making some monsters being one element type, but then having a variant that is the same monster, just with a different element type

-the game play was not turn based. Unlike monster hunter (which is turn based), it played like an action rpg had had different combos you could do with different characters

- the game had an interesting story, all be it weird. the translations were a little off putting which gave the story it's odd but semi charming qualities, in terms of the story specifically

-the game was originally released on mobile while later being released to steam. It was a direct port and i don't believe they really optimized the controls properly for computer use.

Overall this game was a blast. It was definitely a little funky at times and could be down right frustrating when it comes to the breeding, but it made up for it's downfalls with it's silly/charming characters, fun and engaging gameplay, and the ability to share your profile between PC and mobile and continue your save was amazing. (All of the time I had in this game was mainly on mobile. I just got the steam port to see how it is and to check on my breeding and such since i was on my PC already) The reasons I've seen for the closure of the servers are the lack of financial support and (from what I've heard) miss use of funds that were originally supposed to be used for server costs. Though, idk how true the second claim is. Regardless, I wish they just made an offline version that was like $10 and you got everything the game had in terms of characters and stuff. It would not only support the game just a little bit longer, but it would've possibly been able to have a bigger audience. If you ever want to experience a game similar to this, I recommend checking out the Monster Hunter Stories games. the first and second games are both available on steam, switch, and the first game is also on mobile OR even the nintendo 3DS, if you have one (i believe the second one is on play station but i don't believe the first one is). It is turn base but Volzerk was heavily inspired by monster hunter stories (from what I'm aware of) so, again, if you're at all interested in this game, you'll most likely be interested in the monster hunter stories games.

If you came here because you already played both mhs games, then I"m sorry. For you are too late to experience such an interesting adventure.

Overall, I hope this review helped some people at least learn about the game, if they were interested, despite it shutting down. I truly wish you all the best.

i really like this game i played on mobile before and now i play it in again on pc without even realizing that the game is about to end.. its sad i really like the personality of fina she is cute and charming and funny the interaction between three character is so memorable at least for me, i really really agree if this game get milked again and coming as full singleplayer storydriven game i dont care if i should pay for it, well this game for a free game obviously great specially on that cute dialog thing its just fresh for a free game and so far as a f2p i feel really safe, just sad hearing that this game will come to an end gonna miss fina and also the soundtrack was so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing damn gonna miss that beautiful soundtrack..:(

This is just... plain sad. Like, so much efforts on this game are all GOING TO WASTE. Why the publisher wants to shut it down... why not just make it single player.. why not just give dedicated servers to players if you can't continue it...?
I honestly can't imagine how the game developers are feeling rn.

I enjoyed this game while it lasted, really well done to all the game devs and everyone involved in it (not to the ones that decided its shut down tho). I can't really "recommend" this game to anyone since it's going down, but, I hope one day, the publisher decides to either make it single player or just give out dedicated server.

I really wanted to try this for a while ,launched it today to find out they don't accept new players and the game is shutting down
really sucks and only a year or so after release
i am super saddened on what i potentially missed out
kinda breaks my heart when it happens to games like this
they clearly put in the work judging by the screenshot and all of that might cease to exist forever
