Tell someone you're an artist, and they'll advise you to get a "real job." Tell them you're building a tech platform to extract value from artists, and they'll ask for your pitch deck.
@Daojoan the griftonomy
@Daojoan This is the basis to the plot for the recently released game, Split Fiction.
It's a great game.
@Daojoan for the last 30 years when I tell folks Iâm a graphic designer I get nods of recognition and approval. When I tell them Iâm an artist they look at me with a question on their lips, but unsaid: âand what do you do for money?â
@Daojoan besides all of the other critiques of capitalism, the Marxist economic materialist lens, the destruction of the environment, and accumulation of wealth in the hands of very few, one of the most important failings of our economic order is how is fails to promote beauty or human expression.
Unfortunately for some people anything that is difficult to measure is considered not to exist
@FediThing Fundamentally, the economy and even the concept of currency have their foundations in concepts of punishment and guilt- if you commit crimes, you pay a fine, and the more money you have the less punishment you receive as a reflection of your greater morality and piety.
@Daojoan As someone who was spat on by family for wanting to pursue art, 100% to this.
@Daojoan @mastodonmigration I hate it here
@Daojoan Right, because a "real job" is where workers get exploited.
@Daojoan in the past - when civil-infrastructure were destroyed - it rebuild itself because there no replacement.
Now - AI is replacement to entire civil-infrastructure (include art and everything else).
@Daojoan GYAT. DAMN.
(aka: Jesus Christ you are really on fire lately.)
« Dites Ă quelqu'un que vous ĂȘtes un artiste et il vous conseillera de trouver un âvrai travailâ. Dites-lui que vous construisez une plateforme technologique pour valoriser les artistes, et il vous demandera votre pitch. »
La dĂ©valorisation du travail des #ArtistesAuteurices est assez universelle, au moment mĂȘme oĂč lâextraction de valeur de notre travail par la force et le vol bat son plein !
@Daojoan I used to encourage someone to tell people they were a poet as most wouldnât know how to even respond to that.
