Donald Wesley Fishel, 75, of LaVale, died Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug. 24, 1940, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Franklin Fishel and Mary (Holt) Fishel Roberts.

He was a 1958 graduate of Allegany High School and had attended Frostburg State University.

Don had served in the Army Reserves.

He was employed by the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company from 1958-1983. He was retired from the State of Maryland. His work involved architectural engineering and construction at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

Don was a member of LaVale Baptist Church, LaVale Volunteer Fire Department, Kemp Lodge 154, A.F. & A.M., 32nd. degree, Cumberland Scottish Rite Bodies, and Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Forest 140. He was Past Patron of Mountain Chapter 15, O.E.S. and was currently serving as Warder.

He enjoyed woodworking and traveling. Most of all, Don loved being with his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Josephine M. Fishel; two children, Brian Fishel and wife, Angela, LaVale, and Judy Fishel, Cumberland; grandchildren, Stephanie Fishel, of Maine, Nikole Fishel, of Ocean City, Morgan Shramm, of LaVale, Madison Kock, of LaVale, Jessica Fletcher, and husband, Michael Fletcher Jr., of Cumberland, Brian Simmons, and Christopher Simmons, also of Cumberland; great-grandchildren, Kelli Fletcher, Allison Fletcher, James Fletcher, Michael Fletcher III, Isabella Simmons and Emmitt Simmons; two brothers, David Fishel and wife, Carmella, of Bowie, and Glen Roberts and wife, LaAnna, of LaVale; one sister, Elaine Davis, of LaVale; and nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A. 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mountain Chapter 15, O.E.S. will conduct a memorial service in the funeral home on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at 7:30 p.m.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Jim Jeffries, officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
