Surface Conditions
Groomed snow is a mix of partially transformed hardpack, frozen granular, and loose granular (aka "sugar snow"), both on and off the groom. It's a good day to stick to the groomers. Please ski and ride with caution, especially if you venture off-piste.
General Conditions
5:30 AM: Tough forecast today with a mixed bag of clouds, snow showers, and sunshine all in the forecast. An unsettled jet stream that can't quite decide what it wants will push a dying front over the top of us this morning and leave our mountain high and dry for a few hours as a more consolidated jet stream takes aim at the PNW, and brings fresh snow later this week. In the meantime we should have a nice day to get some turns in, to start the week. Expect high temps to max out in the low 30's today with a ridgeline wind out of the W/NW in the 20-25 range. Grooming reports are coming in favorable (relative to the past day or two), with a mix of refrozen granular and loose granular vying for groomed run supremacy. If we get the sunshine we expect this afternoon expect softening conditions that should make for some nice turns on the groom. Off-piste, please ride with caution... today is a good day to stick to the groomers. Come on up and get those turns in! We are open until 4 PM.
------------------------------
Regardless of conditions, it's always a good idea to remain vigilant and mindful of deep snow safety. Ski and ride with a buddy, keep them in sight, and carry your beacon/shovel/probe kit. Stay away from tree wells. Don't forget to turn on your beacon and check the batteries! When entering gated terrain, only do so through open gates, and respect all rope lines. Those are there to protect you from terrain hazards and areas that have not received avalanche mitigation. Ducking ropes and entering closed terrain will result in you losing your pass for the rest of the season. More importantly, it puts you and our crew at risk.
Stay up to date on all things Meadows by signing up for our text alerts. Sign up after 9 PM or in the morning before heading up as the list clears at 9 PM each night.
Reminders: No uphill travel in the resort, with the exception of the backcountry access routes. Only reenter the resort into open terrain. Sledding is not allowed at Meadows. Early season conditions exist both on and off the groom - ski and ride with caution.
