dw Hyde isn't killing anyone - he's just in a street fight, a bloody one at that (medieval duels often tended to get quite extreme so this isn't that much out of the ordinary) Hyde's go to weapon is a sickle (This was inspired by the sickle hyde had in cliffs' of insanity)
More to the point - Frankenstein! After thinking about it for a while, I ultimately decided that Jekyll was Frankestien's apprentice...
Frankestein is an eminent healer and doctor that practices dark magic and sorcery. she is renowned becasue she created the creature from forbidden dark arts, however by doing this she slowly goes crazier and crazier the more she uses magic. Jekyll was sent to the swiss mountains in hopes of receiving high level training by her but naturally, she is a crazy old woman and Jekyll recieved a very strict and unforgiving apprenticeship from her that he definitely does not have PTSD from. Frankenstein sees Jekyll as weak and they basically both hate each other, it's fun!

LANYON LORE TIME (YIPEEE)
I wanted to post some lanyon Lore for my Medieval Au because he's probably the most different to Canon-Lanyon. Jekyll/hyde stay pretty much the same, and they don't need much explanation, however lanyon does. so here it is.
EARLY LANYON
Growing up as a prince, meant that Lanyon was constricted to many duties and couldn't really live a normal life as a kid, this caused him to build up much resentment towards his father and in turn, made him a very reckless and rule-breaking, rebellious teenager. His name like Tgs (and novella) is also Hastie. Its very common for medieval royalty to pass down names [eg. Henry VIII] So robert would've been 'Hastie II' however little Babyon wanted to be nothing like his father and started going by 'Robert'. Lanyon never wanted to be King. Ever. He holds contemptment for his Royal duties and often dreams of running away from it all (but ever since a certain someone entered his life, he's found it awfully hard to leave...)
YOUNG-ADULT LANYON [PRE-HENRY]
Due to his rebellious nature, Young Lanyon would often end up sneaking out late at night go to the local pub, and let loose. He often wears a cloak so others don't recognise him. Lanyon likes to get very drunk and forget about all his responsibilities, (he's not one bit responsible) His Father disapproves and often reminds Lanyon that he is a 'disappointment to his family' (FUN!! SELF HATE?? ikr??) SO to address, Tgs Lanyon's playboi era, that doesn't really happen here, IN the Au as a part of finding his own freedom, he sleeps around alot, and has multiple one night stands but those involve both parties not expecting any strings attached. Lanyon still gets to be a slut but he also isn't a massive dick. He can also play the fiddle, he secretly enjoys this (but shh don't let his father know) and occasionally brings it to the pub. I headcanon that Lanyon has a really nice Singing voice, so in this Au Lanyon can sing, but he gets very embarrassed about it and never does it in public (unless incredibly drunk)
PRESENT LANYON
Present lanyon in the Au is in his early 20's (same with Jekyll) As part of His Duties as Prince, he must also be Knight and Fight in battles, this entail lots of training, Lanyon's been training since a young age, but ever sine Jekyll arrived, he always watches him practice so he can 'observe how to defend himself' and definitely NOT to see his cute crush/bff wear dashing armour, no.... Lanyon actually doesn't mind being a Knight that much but he doesn't Like Violence all that much and thinks there are better ways at solving disputes, however this does not mean he won't try to kill you if you threaten those dear to him (you can guess who)
In the AU, Robert is a bit more awkward around Henry, as they both are enamoured and always in Gay panic mode around each other, so there dynamic is a bit more 'cute' per-se compared to Tgs where Lanyon is Dom and Jekyll is Flustered mess. Lanyon gets to be a bit more a flustered mess in this Au too.
Yes, I know it's been a while, but no, the Au is not dead. I am going to do things with it I just haven't had a lot of time. Alright, This is gonna be a lot, so thou shalt be warned In the Au, Robert is a prince and Lanyon Sr. is the King, they rule over a small kindom somewhere in England - name TBA (so not like real monarchies which rule over entire countries etc.) The premise is basically; The Lanyon's personal/private doctor recently passed away so they call in a new doctor/chemist from Scotland - did you guess? yep, It's Jekyll. Hyde exists before Henry/Edward meets Robert (I haven't worked out the exact logistics about it yet, but I will) Jekyll/Hyde are more Chemists/Alchemists than Doctors but they are both still very good doctors regardless (so they don't really wear the 'plague mask' thing) I aged only Jekyll, Hyde and Lanyon down to about their early 20's so it matches around the original timing of when J&H met Robert in TGS. There are other smaller reasons but they aren't to important, all you need to know is that it doesn't really change anythingLanyon is betrothed to Everly from a neighbouring kingdom -this is where it differs slightly from TGS, it's a political marriage not a lavender marriage. Neither Robert nor Everly are happy about this however, they are both only children in royalty so they don't really have an option. Hyde is essentially the local gremlin that has in-built eyebags and a sense to sell you things not very discreetly that he probably shouldn't be selling. His Cape is comedically large and has a very extensive collection of illegal powders, drugs, and other nefarious items. Almost everybody knows Hyde becasue at some point they have all needed some rare item from him. - this is where the blackfog comes in (yes it exists!) the Blackfog is basically the same but Hyde really wants to go so he can buy/sell lots of items for his little side-business he has going on, however Lanyon Sr. is opposed to it and it's existence because well... illegal. *Hyde also goes by: The Spirit of [insert Kingdom's name] at night (soooooo original, ik) Jekyll stays pretty much the same, He really cares about his reputation so he can move up on the social ladder and create his own Science business at some point, and I mean he doesn't want to make a fool of himself in front of the King of all people, that wouldn't be a very good look, would it? In this universe, The lodgers are all citizens of the small kingdom and they all sort of have different occupations/roles in the town. They can't all be scientists, but do not fear because they still as equally crazy and chaotic as before. Rachel is the Lanyon's personal chef but she also helps run the bakery in town with Mr. Doddle. Jasper looks after most of the animals and creatures in the kingdom, he used to be a farmer but moved to get away from home. I am yet to work out how Jekyll and Jaspers relationship dynamic stays the same in this universe but I will figure something out. There is A LOT of Jekyon and Lanyde going on here, so I've got something for everyone, (there may or may not be a masquerade at some point...) and it's not just centred around romance, there is lots of other plot stuff happening so do not fear my ace/aro friends (or just people who aren't a fan of romance)!That's most of it for now... I'll draw some more stuff at some point and give some extra details, If you have any questions please ask (my asks are open) I'd love to hear from you all!!! Don't be afraid to offer any suggestions or other criticisms. Maybe I'll write a fanfic one day who knows, we will see. MY BBG 🙏🙏🙏 had a wip of him with mindyons ghost lads I did over a month ago and decided to redraw it, since my style has changed a good bit. I've been waiting so long jskvkke but!!! Yapping!!! OKAY, SO JSKVKKSKV, Victorian necromancy was a sort of sub category for Victorian spiritualism. Around like,, 1860 I believe, the interest in spirits and other occult type things sort of boomed. People became kinda obsessed with talking to and learning things about all sorts of spirits, and this is when seances became kinda big. Like, a shit ton of people would do them, especially higher class folks, bc it was kinda like entertainment. And since death was so widespread back then, a lot of people would want to talk to those that have passed. (Forgive me if I get anything wrong tho, I read about a bunch of this over the years and am just recalling)Necromancy tho!!!! Generally people think of completely reanimating the dead and stuff, but for Victorians it was moreso reanimating the *spirit or soul*, basically bringing the spirit back to ask it questions, usually about the future or to answer mysteries, like cause of death and blah blah blah. Tho, with the creatures and world of tgs, it can kinda be assumed that Tanis does *also* dabble in fully reanimating things-- most likely small animals or pets and such. I like to think he helps keep Zosi good and well, personally :3 but yeah, it can probably be assumed that he might be trying to work up to resurrecting people and such, but he *probably* mostly dabbles in seances and connecting with spirits/the spiritual world and such. He probably does resurrections for recently deceased pets and such, and spiritual readings/seances for higher class people, or just people who seek out his stuff. Which!! I think would make him one of the more popular lodgers among higher society. Hcs: I think he's a very joyful and social guy, which can vaguely be seen, mayhaps partially bc of high empathy from his line of work. He's more in tune to emotions and atmosphere bc of the connection he's built with the spirit world. Because of this, I feel like spirits and stuff are also just very drawn to him (and Doddle for his constant positive energy, though he doesn't notice them) Also!!! Works quite closely with Dr Maijabi me thinks, I bet they've got a nice found family dynamic, not only bc of their somewhat similar lines of work, but also bc they're both immigrants. I think him and doddle are friends too (*COUGH*boyfriends-) bc doddle seems like such a constantly happy and positive guy so I think doddle would help recharge him emotionallyAnyways.
