Henry sat slowly onto the bed, still breathless from his impromptu performance. The crowd had went wild - well, as wild as those attending an opera will be - and their reaction to his voice, a sweet tenor voice with arguably the best range of every cast member in the opera, rendered him even more speechless than his sore voice. As he was contemplating his newfound fame, he failed to notice a figure, clad all in black, stepping out of the mirror. This mysterious man spoke up, startling Henry, saying, "A lovely performance from my angel of music. As expected, of course." The man held out a single red rose, adorned with a black ribbon around it.
Henry took in his presence with wide eyes full of wonder. He noted the man's long blonde hair, slicked back into a clean ponytail. He examined the man's outfit, a suit made of darkness, a cape even darker, flowing around him. Henry noticed that two thing about this man, save for his hair, were not black: first, his vest, which on closer examination was a dark and velvety green, and the second, a white mask that covered the upper right half of the man's face. Henry marveled at this dark - and dare he say it, handsome - new stranger. Realizing he was staring, the man patiently waiting, Henry took the rose graciously and breathed deeply, saying, "You... you're him, aren't you? The Phantom of the opera?" He paused as the man, the Phantom, smiled and gave a slight bow, his eyes never leaving Henry's. "Why are you here?"
The Phantom rose slowly - every move of his was slow, deliberate, and exuded silent power - before calmly approaching the singer and circling around him.
"I have been watching you... listening to your lovely voice as you practiced in the alleged privacy of your room of prayer. I have observed you wishing desperately for something more, for just one chance. I have finally decided to reveal myself, to give you a chance."
The Phantom said all of this while stalking around Henry, and on his final word brushing his hand against Henry's cheek before turning back and walking towards the mirror. Not wanting him to disappear just yet, Henry stepped forward slightly, gasping out, "Wait!"
The Phantom stopped in the mirror's frame, turning with a slight smile to his favorite star. Noticing Henry was at a loss for words, that he was trying to come up with some excuse to stay, he simply held out his hand and said, "I would be honored if you would accompany me, my sweet angel." He paused and smiled fully, a sweet baring of teeth that sent shivers down Henry's spine, before continuing, "Will you take a chance?"
