SINGAPORE -- A battle for control of Singapore-listed property company City Developments Limited (CDL), which became public this week, has cast a spotlight on the father and son at the center of the company's family feud.

CDL Chairman Kwek Leng Beng on Wednesday accused Sherman Kwek, his son and the company's chief executive, of an "attempted coup" with the board of directors. He said in a statement that "serious lapses of corporate governance" at the multibillion-dollar real estate business had been "halted."
