ohdeartheresanowl-blog Follow I Remember The MonstersJust a little thing I wrote about my childhood boogie men. You know the creatures that my young mind dreamed up. I might draw them later.-----------------------------------------------I remember the monsters. I remember the tiny men that lived in my walls and their bows that shot poisonous arrows at bad children. I remember the lights that flickered outside the windows all night. I remember the hundreds of long thin fingers that seemed to belong to no body that would grip and wriggle along the corners of walls. And most importantly I remember the King of them all.Lord Zypeher had a stupid name. But he was my boogie man. He was like a father to me. Every night I would lay my head apon my soft pillow as he stood over me, always keeping the bad ones away. When he was around the fingers never lingered to long, the ghostly figures of long dead things would go away, and I could sleep. I remember his long figure stretching near to the ceiling and his large black eyes peering down like shining abysses.I remember how I began to grow up. I remember how the lights glinting outside my window became just cars passing by, how the pricks in my shoulder I felt when was being naughty vanished, how the fingers wriggling and grabbing the walls were spotted less and less. And most importantly how my boogie man was replaced with visions of the nothingness of this world.
