"As a general matter, there is strict liability so long as the plaintiff was not teasing, tormenting or trespassing," Rosemarie Paine, counsel for the plaintiff, said. "In this case, she was doing exactly what she should have been doing, which was taking care of the dogs. ... The owner of the dog claimed that those actions freeing the dog would have been deemed by the dog to be threatening."

Personal InjuryRosemarie Paine of Jacobs & Dow secured a $2.65 million settlement for a client who was attacked by a dog, leading to facial reconstructive surgery.
Paula Ciastko, the plaintiff, was working at the animal day care facility Silver Trails Kennel. A pit bull and American Staffordshire Terrier mix named Stella got stuck in the chain link fence, the complaint said.
