I’m sure someone saw sand worms and nerded out while forgetting about a much better sand worm option.

Take my money!
Quoted from retrobit:To be clear, Knapp Arcade's story was based on a single post from mnpinball over in this thread here: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/dune-movie-hype-dune-pinball-hype/page/3#post-8502009
So, a fairly thin bit of speculation.
To be fair, I knew the Dune rumor for weeks before the Pinside post about it. I just wasn’t sure that I believed it, so I sat on it for a while.
Once it was out in the open here, I decided to write about it since the cat was out of the bag anyhow.
A ton of pinball rumors start from one knowledgeable person telling me something. How do you think rumors start? There’s usually not billboards and all sorts of documented evidence.
Do I think that Barrels’ next game is Dune? Maybe. That’s the strongest rumor on it that I’ve heard so far. They keep a pretty tight lid on things though so we will see…hopefully soon

i'd hope the 1984 film. if you have two versions of the same theme to choose from, it would be silly not to go with the nostalgic option, especially in an industry that's primarily fueled by nostalgia. also, campy or humorous themes are much more popular than serious themes. no nostalgia, no camp, no humor = no sale.

Never heard someone describe Frank Herbert's style as campy before.

I’m hoping for the new one, but never saw the first. I’ll look it up. So who the F has the Goonies license?

The original film, not the book.
