Qatar Law No. 22/2006 On the Issuance of the Family Law

We, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar,

After perusal of the Constitution;

Based on the proposal of the Minister of Justice and Islamic Affairs,

The Draft Law submitted by the Council of Minister, and

Based on the approval of the Shura Council,

Have promulgated the following law:

Article 1

The provisions of the Family Law attached hereto shall be implemented.

Article 2

All cases and disputes related to family and inheritance matters shall be decided upon by one or more circuits of the Court of First Instance and Court of Appeal, to be called the Family Court.

The Family Court at the Court of First Instance, formed of a Single Judge, may undertake to decide upon the cases and disputes related to family and inheritance matters defined by the Supreme Judiciary Council.

Article 3

All competent entities shall, each within the scope of its competence, implement the present Law. This Law shall be published in the Official Gazette.
