MORE TSFHJ FAN THEORY (spoilers through 6/10/20 update) Quick recap on my previous post:
We know that when HJ-7 is injested it reveals a person's "true self"
When Henry created Hyde, that was then a manifestation of his inner desires. We know this because we've seen Henry act violently before taking HJ-7.
Henry likes to deny his violent nature, but Hyde is completely aware of it.
We also know Henry doesn't remember things perfectly.
In fact, it's been shown he purposefully distorts memories. For example, here is Henrys side of the story for when his father died:
But, then here's Al's side of the story:
Notice how in Henry's version Al is with him but in Al's Molly is there?
Even molly seemed suspicious of Henry's version
But we know Al is hiding something too.
Al is Henry's protector. He sees the good in Henry and wants to save that, often denying the bad.
The last couple updates of the novel have reunited Henry and Al for the first time since the early chapters, and a lot is going on. What I especially want to point out is this panel:
Al's talking about Molly, but he does that with Henry too. There's a lot of ways to interpret this panel. Is Al becoming more aware of Henry's dark side? Moreover, is Al even aware of how much of Henry is kept hidden? If so, will he reveal thatm
Speaking of Henry's dark side, I just want to remind everyone of my theory that Henry Jekyll killed his father . Especially now with the fact that Al is hiding something AND his side of the story is different, there's a lot of evidence piling up at this point. I think its a fairly obvious theory, but important to the thematics.
Seeing as Henry's father's death and what I call the "there is something there" spirit are the only two mysteries in Henry's past left unexplained, I assume we'll get answers soon. Oh, yeah, theres also a really fun parallel with those two things:
I honestly have a few ideas for this but I just want to wait and see what midori has planned.
If Al is beginning to realize that Henry isnt all good and might not be redeemable, that's a major turning point in the story. I don't know if Midori plans to go with the same ending as the original story (and most adaptations), but keeping that ending in mind it makes sense that soon Henry will be forced to face himself. And Al might just be a pushing factor to that moment.
