The Map
The map is an essential tool for Travel in Albion Online. By default it is opened with the "M" hotkey. It is important to understand the way the world of Albion is broken down from Continents, Zones, and Clusters.
Reading the Map
The map tool in game is very useful and essential to understand and use. There are two types of maps. The cluster map, and the world map. Understanding what symbols on the map means is also important for determining what resources are valuable in your area and what kinds of activities are around you.
Albion's World Map: How To Use
Step by Step
- Open the map with either the map button or hot key (default is "M")
- Click and hold to drag around and locate or explore destinations
- Zoom by scrolling on the mouse wheel
- You position will be marked by a large yellow/gold arrow
Current Cluster Map: How To Use
Step by Step
- Click on the cluster map button or press the hot key (default is "N")
- Click and hold to drag around and explore the cluster
- Zoom by scrolling on the mouse wheel
- Your character will be signified by a Blue Triangle (See Gallery)
Symbols
There are many different kinds of symbols and even live NPC enemies/bosses on the maps. Understanding what they are and what they are for is important to enjoying the most out of Albion Online. Here are a few examples. There are more in Albion Online but these are a good starter set to get new players on their feet.
- Hellgates: Appear as orange portal and are only found in yellow and red zones.
- Outposts: appear as various stone circles with flags corresponding with the faction that owns them currently
- Hotspots: appear as a small sample of the resource they give (see gallery)
- Cities and towns: Appear as castles or large cities on the map with a name underlining them. At every city you can find many services such as the Marketplace
