IDK, when I interned at Pixar in 2010, we would watch and analyze a classic movie each week. They were all Good Movies (tm), but they were v much geared towards Gen-X straight white cisdude tastes and I became convinced that my tastes were Wrong and I almost left the industry

The films also go out of their way to show the parents' trauma, and part of the kids' journey is coming to understand WHY their parents acted the way they did. Yes, they make baby steps towards change but you can't expect them to unlearn their shitty coping mechanisms overnight
