Bleeding Heart

The books are in!! I received the final copies of Bleeding Heart from the printer last week, complete with matte lamination and spot gloss. That means it is just about time to start shipping off the final rewards to you all!

 I will try to get the 10$, 25$, and 40$ tiers done by the end of October, then tackle the remainder in November. Due to the unexpectedly high numbers of backers, the 15$ tiers-which require a little extra personalized touch from me-may push into December, but I'm going to try to avoid that situation if I can!

I have purchased what is hopefully all the shipping supplies I will need to ship, essentially a small mountain of rigid mailers, collapsed boxes, and protective comic book bags.

A couple of the Kickstarter rewards- some of the prints and the stickers- came fully assembled when I received them from the manufacturer, but I have spent the last month assembling all the other rewards by hand with the help of my helpful “production crew,” consisting of my roommate, friends, and family. In the end, I have amassed over 300 hand-cut bookmarks, 600 buttons, and 1100 prints.

 Finally, I am hard at work on the first chapter of The Glass Scientists! A couple weeks ago I sifted through about 90 applications for potential colorists and in the end chose Tiina Purin, whose work I found to be rich and naturalistic. Because of your contributions I will be able to afford to hire her for the first two chapters of The Glass Scientists, totaling 50 pages! Of course, first I have to write, draw, and ink all those pages, which is no mean feat. . . . Here's a little preview from page 2!
