In just the last 3 weeks our CABS teams in #Cyprus have dismantled 213 limesticks together with Police & Game Wardens. 22 birds including this beautiful #WoodWarbler have been carefully cleaned & released unharmed! 3 poachers have been convicted for trapping with limesticks.

Update from our winter bird protection camp in #Cyprus. It seems bird trapping has almost completely collapsed - we have located just three active trapping with just 2 nets (in comparison: in winter 2017/18 our teams collected 137 nets!). More here

In Lebanon this is the true face of ‘hunting’. Outdoor loving ‘men’ trash the landscape with shotgun shells, coffee cups, cigarette packets & other waste. In between lies the decaying remains of endangered migratory birds. For a bird conservationist, this is quite simply hell!

in 2022 CABS teams have collected & dismantled 534 bird trapping nets! With 5000m of net, that's about 1660 birds rescued each day! Therefore, during peak trapping season (45 days on average), >75000 birds would have died in the nets we removed!

1/3 While investigating another large illegal trapping site suspected to belong to a notorious bird trapping gang, our brave CABS team came to the aid of not one, but two(!!) Egyptian fruit bats found caught alongside a dozen song thrushes in four huge mist-nets!
