I am looking to recruit several PhDs to join my team at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, School of Engineering, University of Southampton to contribute to a multimillion pound reserach programme focused on developing smart acoustic control technologies. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of engineering research developing cutting-edge technologies that offer high-performance and lightweight solutions to address industrial challenges related to the control of mechanical vibration and noise. Successful applicants will receive a significantly enhanced tax-free stipend of between £24,700 and £27,700 p.a. (equivalent to a salary of £33,600), benefit from significant funding to support the research and its dissemination through attendance at international conferences, and join a collaborative and supportive group of researchers working to a common goal. More details on the open positions can be found at the following links, or get in touch with me directly (j.cheer@soton.ac.uk): • 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 (https://lnkd.in/dJEY9H4V) • 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 (https://lnkd.in/dVAVqeVT) • 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 (https://lnkd.in/dMPqw6_q) • 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 (https://lnkd.in/dYX8CtQe) These positions are supported by Royal Academy of Engineering, EPSRC/UK Ministry of Defence Centre for Doctoral Training in Complex Integrated Systems for Defence & Security. #acoustic #noise #vibration #metamaterials #control #mechanical #engineering #sound #structures #phd #research
I'm interested but i'm currently in the first year of my master degree in acoustics.
Interesting

2wI’m thinking about creating a project that combines your field with civil engineering, possibly by applying materials on a wall to improve its sound resistance. 😊
