Remember, everyone, we still have a system in place and the Constitution still exists. We are not in a full dictatorship, yet. We can not give in to despair at every single thing this new administration does, because those checks still exist.
And until they don't - and that's a big if - we must keep our heads about us. Do not panic. Do not fall into apathy. Do not do anything irreversible.
The system will not save us, but it can protect us from the worst possible outcome for now.
And we will continue to fight even once it can't or won't.

Me: you’re wearing your Viking tie today. That pattern always makes me think of little Viking shields.
Coworker: oh, that’s perfect. My whole family are Vikings.
Me: ᚦᚢ:ᛁᚱᛏ:ᚢᛁᚴᛁᚾᚴᚱ?
Him: ???
Me: Þú ert víkingr?
Him: *says something in confused Spanish* (he’s not Hispanic, mind you)
Me: I’m speaking Old Norse, not Spanish. I’m asking if you’re a Viking.
Him: yeah, my ancestors were all Vikings.
Me: No they weren’t.
Him: how do you know?
Me: because I know what the word ‘Viking’ means. It’s not an ethnic term. I doubt all of your ancestors were plunderers.
Him: how do you know? (His tone is more joking at this point, I think.)
Me: …
Me: so where from Scandinavia do you have family?
Him: idk

masonhawthorne 팔로우 I keep remembering a run of Hamlet I saw a few years ago, where the Ghost was costumed in full plate armour which was very noisy, and instead of muffling it, they had him crash across the stage, stomping so the whole set rattled, and he said all of his lines in a bellow, like he was furious with Hamlet.And the thing that made it absolutely terrifying was that Hamlet was the only one who reacted. He was cowering, and covering his ears with both hands, and yelling to be heard over the noise. And no one else seemed to know why he was doing that. The other actors didn't even raise their voices.That's scary, something so loud and painful, and REAL, and the people around you don't even notice it, and think that you're the crazy one.
