In-game
Yangchuanosaurus is a large carnivorous Metriacanthosaurid, being the only representative of the family in the game whose mastery is required to discount
Torvosaurus. With one of the most powerful bites in the game, this is a large mid-tier predator not to be trifled with, unless you're a larger carnivore.

PvP and Abilities
Abilities
Rallying
Allows the players to give their packmates a 15% damage boost for 30 seconds by broadcasting. The more packmates you have, the higher the damage boost.
PvP Description:
Yangchuanosaurus is an extremely tanky, incredible ambush-pursuit predator. With a speed of over 30 km/h, good health, and extremely formidable damage, Yangchuanosaurus is well fit for its role. Its recommended to use your good trot to travel around and conserve stamina, and use your bite in order to instantly fracture the bones of opponents. Go for the neck in order to deal fatal body fracture, and then go in for the final blow. Yangchuanosaurus faces very little competition in it's niche; Allosaurus and Ceratosaurus by themselves will be helpless against your superior damage and bulk, making bullying them from their kills a trivial affair. Torvosaurus and Saurophaganax are both diurnal and significantly slower, meaning they can be fairly easily avoided. In it's home environments of the Conifers and Riparian Woodlands, the only real threats you will face are Subadult Torvosaurus, who have the ability to run you down and inflict infection, meaning these should be killed before they reach this stage or avoided as a whole. Packs of adult Allosaurus are rarer, but a serious threat: they are much faster and inflict serious bleed which will be hard to escape from.
Yangchuanosaurus' primary prey in its area vary. Yunnanosaurus will be the best prey at most times of day, due to their weakness to crushing damage and slow running speed. Its other two preferred foods, Scelidosaurus and Kentrosaurus, are both faster than it, but are wholly unequipped to stand and fight against an adult Yangchuanosaurus. Ideally, these will form the basis of its diet, although in its expected habitats and activity times, they may be hard to come by. Subadult and Teen Stegosaurus, as well as young sauropods can be hunted, albeit with some difficulty.
Survival
Summary
In-game, Yangchuanosaurus is a carnivorous upper mid-tier Dinosaur. It is a Crusher, capable of delivering massive amounts of crushing damage. Its preferred activity span is Nocturnal, meaning it is active during the night. Yangchuanosaurus is solitary.
Wellbeing
- Ideal Temperature Range: 7 - 40 °C
- Cleaning Method: Mud
- Social Preference: Solitary
- Nutrition: Yunnanosaurus, Kentrosaurus, Scelidosaurus
- Activity Span: Nocturnal, active between the hours of 23:00 to 5:00
- Preferred Habitats: No biome restrictions.
- Territory Preference: Nomadic
Tips
- Beware of Torvosaurus & Saurophaganax, as they are both formidable predators that boast a big size advantage over Yangchuanosaurus, do not do a one-on-one against these creatures or you will learn the consequences, only fight the larger carnivores with pack mates taking turns.
- Beware of being caught surrounded by a group of
Allosaurus as they can quickly overpower and kill you with their sheer numbers and nasty bleed, even if you are physically superior. - Choose your battles wisely, for the Yangchuanosaurus's massive jaws pack a punch, but its stamina is limited. Strike with precision and make every attack count.
- Make sure to time your bite right, as missing one can be fatal.
- Make sure to have a group with you when fighting tougher prey items like Stegosaurus. This large herbivore is capable of packing an extreme punch.
Amber Calculations •
With no gamepass or boosts applied, the base amber gain for the Yangchuanosaurus is
180 Amber per minute. Players can boost this amber gain without game passes using gameplay-oriented boosts, such as the 100% Wellbeing boost (+50%) for
270 Amber per minute or Territory (a nest) boost (+10%) for
198 Amber per minute. With these boosts combined, players can earn a maximum of
288 Amber per minute as the Yangchuanosaurus.
To further increase passive gains, players can also purchase Gamepasses for permanent boosts, such as the
APEX Bundle! Gamepass (+10%) and
More Amber! Gamepass game pass (+20%). With these, players can earn
198 Amber per minute (APEX Bundle! Gamepass) or
216 Amber per minute respectively. With Gamepasses, players can use several combinations of boosts, including:
APEX Bundle! Gamepass + Territory boost =
216 Amber/min- APEX Bundle! Gamepass + 100% Wellbeing =
288 Amber/min - APEX Bundle! Gamepass + 100% Wellbeing + Territory boost =
306 Amber/min
More Amber! Gamepass + Territory boost =
234 Amber/min- More Amber! Gamepass + 100% Wellbeing =
306 Amber/min - More Amber! Gamepass + 100% Wellbeing + Territory boost =
324 Amber/min
The maximum possible amount per minute from a combination of Gamepass boosts and gameplay boosts as the Yangchuanosaurus, is
342 Amber per minute (base amount +90% from boosts); a combination of the
APEX Bundle! Gamepass,
More Amber! Gamepass, 100% Wellbeing, and Territory boosts.

Trivia
- Yangchuanosaurus means 'Yongchuan Lizard', referencing its place of discovery.
- In-game, Yangchuanosaurus' gameplay is meant to be similar to Tyrannosaurus, and its mastery is required to unlock it. In real life, however, it was closer related to Allosaurus, who in turn was closely related to Giganotosaurus.
- Yangchuanosaurus use to have 50 stamina before the Morrison Part 2 release. It now has 60 and can safely flee from Torvosaurus and Acrocanthosaurus. And now has 120 stamina as of a recent balance patch that doubled the stamina of every Jurassic dinosaur.
- Yangchuanosaurus in the game has quite the biteforce, but in reality, Yangchuanosaurus only had a biteforce of 7kn (700kg), and was chosen because no other Tyrannosaurs smaller than rex had "balanced" speed to be in the game, those candidates were Gorgosaurus (But was replaced later on by Bistahieversor), Albertosaurus, and Daspletosaurus, all three ended up having a top sprint speed of 40km/h+, so Yangchuanosaurus was chosen.] In reality, it would be more of a bleeder, due to the serrated teeth being designed to cause deep wounds.
- Amusingly, Allosaurus and Carnotaurus both had stronger bite forces than it in real life.
- It is one of 6 representatives of the superfamily Allosauroidea in the game, alongside Concavenator, Allosaurus, Acrocanthosaurus, Saurophaganax and Carcharodontosaurus.
- Yangchuanosaurus received a TLC in the first portion of the Rise and Fall update, which is Part 1.
- Yangchuanosaurus was said to lose it's 'Bear Trap' ability asset once Bistahieversor in Rise and Fall Part 1.5 is released, which in turn will get the ability instead.
