Generative AI is changing the way we work, creating exciting new opportunities for everyone in the workforce. As this transformation accelerates, it is important that everyone has the right AI skills and knowledge to thrive in the workplaces of tomorrow.   The latest Labour Market Pulse unveiled today by IDA Ireland, Microsoft and LinkedIn reveals that Ireland’s workforce is well positioned to navigate these changes and develop the skills necessary to use AI in their role.   Results show that Gen X has the most to gain from using generative AI tools to enhance productivity and undertake value-added work. Ibec published its new Economic Outlook earlier today, forecasting GDP growth of 2% in 2024 and 2.7% in 2025. The report highlights that, while the Irish economy is experiencing some moderation in growth after five years of remarkable expansion, the economic outlook remains positive. However, the Outlook also notes that under-delivery in critical infrastructure is constraining the potential for growth in both domestic businesses and foreign direct investment. As we move into the new tax year we draw closer to the introduction of the biggest reform to the Irish pension system since the introduction of the mandatory contributory old age pension in 1960. 🇮🇪 Pension Auto-enrolment is due to commence from 30th September 2025. As an employee, you will be automatically enrolled if.. • you do not currently contribute to a pension scheme or Trust where contributions are made through payroll • you are aged between 23 and 60 • you earn €20,000 or more per annum across all employments How can eligible employees prepare and what can they expect in the coming months before and after scheme commencement? • enrolment will occur after 30th Sept 2025 • the new scheme will be called My Future Fund • check your eligibility status now • does your company provide a scheme? • should you join the company scheme? • you may receive a change to your contract wording, for pension • educate yourself on the scheme by visiting government websites • a new pensions self-service portal will be made available • expect to contribute 1.5% of your gross pay in the first 12 months • expect to see this value on the deduction side of your payslip. • you will not receive tax relief on this contribution. • the state will contribute the equivalent of .5% of your gross pay to your fund. • your employer will match your contribution • your contribution rate will increase by 1.5% every three years • your contribution rate will cap at 10% from year 10 • the state contribution will increase by .5% every three years, capping at 2% • you can opt-out after six months but will be re-enrolled after two years if still eligible. • your pension fund will follow you from job to job • you can manage how your fund is invested • you can also check your fund balance, via the portal • upon retirement you will have access to your auto-enrolment savings plus the State Pension Get informed and get ready with Zellis’ Pension Auto-Enrolment preparation and enablement services. #HR #Payroll #Autoenrolment #Ireland #pensions

I talked to Claire Byrne on RTE this morning about heightened Revenue interest in whether employers are applying #BIK tax charges to staff hospitality. Listen back from 1hour 4min mark: https://lnkd.in/e7N87R8Z While I fully recognise that Revenue has to operate within the realms of the current #tax legislation, treating sandwiches, biscuits or tea/coffee provided to staff at team meetings as a #benefit-#in-#kind is taking it too far. These are #working lunches which are part of the normal commercial operation of a business and many staff wouldn't perceive them as a benefit. The #cost and #administration of this tax charge is crippling for many small businesses and as a result many are culling these small extras - which will have an impact on staff morale. Contrast this to the larger companies who have staff canteens and where no BIK arises. There are moments in business for measured decisiveness. Deloitte’s latest CFO survey, released today, points to this being the sentiment shaping the business environment in Ireland currently. While optimism has softened, it’s reassuring to see a majority of CFOs still anticipating revenue growth despite uncertainty in the markets.
