Snow Slider (B-Roll) is an area in B3313.

Description[]

The area is similar to the vanilla Cool, Cool Mountain, with more blockiness rather than a slope continuity, and a compact bottom floor as opposed to being separated into two halves with few transport possibilities. Additionally, there are now three baby penguins, and the mother penguin cannot be interacted with.

By going through the Monkey Slide reachable via the holes at the top or bottom, and then going through the hole at the bottom of said area, they can reach the Shoshinkai version, although this is irreversible.

Origins[]

The area is taken directly from the Shoshinkai beta version of Super Mario 64.

The music is the "Main Theme" track from the vanilla game's OST.

Stars[]

This area has 2 stars to collect:

  • At the foot of the mountain, on a stone structure, there is a star.
  • Next to the previous star is a mother penguin. Give her back her baby penguin from the top and she will reward you with a star.

Trivia[]

  • This is currently the only area in the hack with identical copies in different locations (excluding the Checkerboards, where the number of stars varies). In previous versions of the hack, Frosty Highlands and Snowman's Land (beta) also had this trait, but were stripped of it due to star ID issues.
  • The "Return a Baby Penguin to the Mother Penguin" star in the B-Roll version of Snow Slider shares the same star ID as the Uncanny Courtyard Checkerboard star. Therefore, collecting the star from one of them is the same as collecting the star from the other and thus you will not get a duplicate star.
  • The "Bottom of the Mountain" star in the Shoshinkai version of Snow Slide shares the same star ID as the "Return a Baby Penguin to the Mother Penguin" star within the same level. Therefore, collecting the star from one of them is the same as collecting the star from the other and thus you will not get a duplicate star. Both stars also share the same star ID as the "Return a Baby Penguin to the Mother Penguin" star in Cool, Cool Mountain (beta). However, the star in Cool, Cool Mountain (beta) is out of bounds and therefore can not be collected.
