Uncanny Courtyard is an area in B3313.
Description[]
The area has 3 states: peaceful, windy and crimson.
In the peaceful state, the main section of the area looks similar to the vanilla Courtyard, but with no plaque inside the fountain, along with the Boo containing the cage that leads to Big Boo’s Haunt missing. A wall separates this section from a hedge maze, which leads to a different castle other than Peach's.
In the windy state, the whole area is grey, the fountain is now drained but with the plaque inside, there are no more Boos, and the door leading back to Peach's castle is now farther away. There is a maze with high walls up ahead.
In the crimson state, there is nothing besides the fountain, a carpet leading up to it, and total darkness.
The windy state can be reached from the peaceful and crimson states by jumping into the fountain. All states can be reached from warps found throughout the hack.
In v0.9 the grass is now dark green and red coins have appeared in the labyrinth.
Origins[]
The area is mainly inspired by the vanilla area of the same name. The maze in the peaceful state appears to be inspired by Annielogue's “Promo Show” video. Textures are mainly taken from the Shoshinkai beta version of Super Mario 64, as well as the vanilla game. The concept of the maze in the windy state was used earlier in the hack as the Maze, a since-removed area.
The music playing in the crimson state is the "Haunted House" theme from the same game's OST. No music plays in the windy or peaceful versions, but wind sounds can be heard in the windy variant, and bird chirps can be heard in the peaceful state.
In E3313, by entering to crimson state via Plexal Upstairs, the music playing here will be "Banshee Boardwalk", from Mario Kart 64's OST.
In v1.0 onwards, upon entering the peaceful state from Funhouse or getting close to the door that leads to Funhouse, an arrangement of Inside the Castle Walls will play.
In this area, it could be affected by nighttime.
Stars[]
This area has 4 stars to collect:
- In the peaceful state, MIPS can be caught twice in a hole above the single door leading to Peach's castle after getting 15 and 50 stars, respectively.
- (v0.9+) In the maze, collect 8 red coins.
- (v0.9) In the windy state, the item block on the grassy platform within the maze contains a star.
- (v1.0+) This is now a green star.

Trivia[]
- The MIPS in Uncanny Courtyard and Vanilla Basement are both part of the overworld and therefore both will advance MIPS stage 1 to MIPS stage 2 for all MIPS in the game when one is caught for the first time. Because of this, it is not possible to get 4 stars total from both overworld MIPS. The player can only get 2 stars from one or the other, or 1 star from each overworld MIPS. The only exceptions are the MIPS in Crimson Hallway and Wing Cap by the Rainbow Highway as those 2 MIPS are inside of courses and therefore will not advance the MIPS stage when caught, however, they are still affected by MIPS stage advancing when an overworld MIPS is caught, making it recommended to catch the 2 course MIPS first before the 2 overworld MIPS as the player will lose the course MIPS stars permanently if they don't, making it impossible to collect every single star in the game.
- This area has many similarities to Super Mario 64 DS, since the hole leading to Battle Fort is in the same spot as in Super Mario 64 DS, and the hole in the wall above the door is also in Super Mario 64 DS.
- Collecting the MIPS 2 star in Uncanny Courtyard is one of the triggers that presses the Yellow Switch automatically.
- Pressing the Yellow Switch will collect the MIPS 2 star automatically.

Tried to stand on the Windy Maze's plaque in V0.9 and nothing happened.
I think you need at least 10 stars
