Question Is multisessioning possible on BD-R SRM without POW (pseudo-overwrite)?

In growisofs, the 256 MiB (~ 268 MB) spare area that enables pseudo-overwrite can be disabled using -use-the-force-luke=spare:none. In xorriso, it's -format without_spare.

The benefit is that the disc is written at twice the speed and you get 256 MB of bonus capacity. However, existing disc writing tools seem to be unable to create a multisession BD-R because they expect pseudo-overwrite to be available.

Does BD-R actually not support multiple sequential sessions like DVD-R and CD-R do, or is it because the existing tools weren't made to treat BD-R without POW like a DVD?
