What I wonder is how many writers are aware when giving their characters internal monologues expressed in words that this is a real thing that people have, either because they themselves think in words or because they have otherwise been informed it is a thing, and how many writers are doing it fully believing that this is 100% a literally convention to make things easier to express to the audience because obviously no one actually thinks in words.
