Gov. Ned Lamont on Monday morning announced that he has nominated more than a dozen jurists to serve as judges in Connecticut courts, including a new member of the state Supreme Court.
“Nominating judges to serve on our courts is one of the most important responsibilities of a governor, especially because judges are the final authority on the interpretation of the law and the constitution, and for ensuring that justice is administered fairly and without prejudice,” Lamont said.
To the state Supreme Court, Lamont has nominated William H. Bright as an associate justice. Bright is currently the chief judge of the Appellate Court.
He has been a partner with the law firms McCarter and English as well as Cummings and Lockwood. He is a graduate of Dickinson College in Pennsylvania and the University of Chicago Law School.
Chief Justice Richard A. Robinson retired from the state Supreme Court last year.
Lamont also appointed 13 Superior Court judges, including former Senate Minority Leader Kevin C. Kelly, and Rep. Michael C. D’Agostino, who served as the House chair of the General Law Committee.
Kelly, 65, of Stratford, is an attorney and owner of Kevin Kelly and Associates. D’Agostino, 53, of Hamden, is a partner at Morgan Lewis and Bockius.
Lamont also nominated Robin L. Wilson as a judge of the Appellate Court.
Wilson has served as a Superior Court judge for more than two decades. She is assigned to the Waterbury Complex Litigation Docket and has also been an administrative law judge on the Workers’ Compensation Commission and worked as an assistant attorney general in Connecticut.
Wilson received degrees from Connecticut College, Northeastern University School of Law and New York University School of Law.
