A suspect is facing trial accused of attempting to murder three men.

John McNamara denied the charges during a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.

The 32 year-old is first accused of attacking Christopher Mathieson in London Road in the city's East End on July 29 2023.

It is claimed the man was kicked and repeatedly struck on the head and body with a knife.

McNamara is said to have carried out a similar murder bid with a blade on Andrew Mathieson on the same street and date.

The indictment states the final alleged attack took place at a flat in nearby James Morrison Street on January 12 2024.

Prosecutors claim Liam Freebairn was repeatedly hit on the head and body with a knife.

It is said Mr Freebairn and Andrew Mathieson were left permanently impaired.

Among the aggravations to the charge featuring Christopher Mathieson are that he was scarred following the alleged assault.

Lord Scott fixed a trial which is scheduled to begin in November 2025.
