Excellent for its price. It also has 720p@120fps, but sadly no 1080p@60fps.
And its 720p@120fps is encoded at 1/4 of the original speed at 30fps. It is better to keep the original speed like the S6 and S7 did. That way, it is much more useful for professional uses like video editing.

Sub $200 CAD prices are common for these when they go on sale. Looking at everything it has to offer, OLED, 50MP and 5000mAh battery plus the long term updates there really isn't anything better out there and nothing to complain about for sure. This phone works perfectly fine for standard everyday tasks like communication, media consumption and some occasional games. The A16 didn't change enough to make it a worthy upgrade candidate. The fit and finish of this phone is quite nice compared to most other phones in this price range. It actually pulls off a "premium" look and feel effectively. Overall this is most definitely the undisputed champion of budget phones in the sub $200 arena.

Remember, ten years ago, Samsung flagships like the Note 4 and S6 had up to 15 W … and only in stand-by mode!
Now, you get the full charging speed even if the screen is on and you are using your phone! (But obviously, it will still thermal-throttle when necessary. But back then it always throttled, even if not necessary.)
This is something the chinese (OnePlus and UleFone) did since 2016. Samsung was a bit late to the party.

A note regarding the 50M mode: Starting at around ISO 250, it activates pixel binning, which drops the effective resolution to 12.5M, and it is upscaled to 50M.
It only is real 50 megapixels in good light.

I can confirm the A15 has no trouble playing 1440p video but it doesn't play 2160p.
I am sure it can technically record in 1440p too.

But wattage isn't all that matters, the charging protocol (USB-PD) needs to be supported to.
Samsung never supported Quick Charge 3.0, only 2.0. They skipped 3.0.

I have been using this phone for a month now, replacing my old phone, the Redmi 8 (64/4GB) which accompanied me for more than 4 years. Yes, for me it is more than enough to use this A15 5G, an amazing upgrade for me, very grateful.
The sad thing for me is that it seems like I bought it when this product was starting to become rare in my country since the A16 was released, luckily I can still have it and in my favorite color, yellow!

I used A12 , A13 before , A15 is the best so far perform better than its predecessor

Something very annoying is the three-second delay until a screenshot is captured. The A54 does not have a delay.

Because I am using a Poco M4 Pro with an AMOLED screen and a 90Hz refresh rate and yes it supports AOD, the screen requirement to run AOD is to use an OLED or AMOLED panel, the Samsung A15 5G uses a Super AMOLED screen, with those specifications it should already support AOD, I don't know why Samsung doesn't include this feature in the phone, maybe it can added in the future software update.

Also worth mentioning: stereo audio recording for video. This provides a spatial effect on phones.
The S series has this since the S3 (2012), but I don't know when they added it to the A's.

Not far off from the experience of my Snapdragon S8. Obviously S9 will be slightly better in terms of pure performance but I'm actually quite surprised with the performance of this device (currently typing this on it)

Does the phone actually function properly with its low end cpu? Clock speeds seem to be more or less the same on all these low end phones, which is sad. 150-350 range; unless its a "used" flagship which outperforms lot of them. Hard to find a mid range phone with high clock speeds with newer os WITH SD CARD..
I have a older one with similiar cpu, tends to be laggy. Even my galaxy 9+ with higher clocks performs wonderfully compared to any mid range phone in 2024
