X was scathing in its response to the correction. Rakugo performer Tatekawa Shiraku commented, "It appears that Fuji TV may not have paid its taxes. Bunshun should hold a 10-hour press conference. But now that Shukan Bunshun has the power to influence Japanese society as a medium, I don't think it can be tolerated for it to be so sneaky as to secretly "correct" a false report. Just as we always ask of others, they have a responsibility to explain why a mistake occurred." He argued that Shukan Bunshun should also be asked to "explain the reasons" as has been asked of Nakai and Fuji TV.

Minowa Atsushi, an editor who has worked on many books at the major publishing house Gentosha, asked, "Isn't it dangerous that Bunshun, which has the power to socially and physically erase an individual, would quietly correct such an important fact? Companies and people in positions of power are afraid of being targeted if they criticize Bunshun. In fact, they take out advertisements to protect themselves, so who is going to monitor Bunshun?"
