Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding the MIG Switch and game updates. Is it possible to update games while the MIG Switch is still in the console without risking a ban?

I've heard different opinions on this, and I'm unsure about the best approach. Should I search for and download the updates with the MIG Switch in place, and then remove it afterward? Or is there a safer method to ensure that I won't get flagged for using the modification?

As long as you didn’t pirate the games or use public dumps you are fine

I’ve been using my MiG since release and so have my close friends who we share our collection and play together with

Another point search and download Console Firmware Updates. I want to address is the firmware updates of the console itself. Are there any specific precautions to consider when using the MIG Switch?

Should remove the SD card from the MIG Switch so that it is empty or remove the MIG Switch completely.

Currently using MIG Switch v2 with firmware 1.1.6 and my Nintendo Switch is version 17.0

you seem dense.

It does not matter what you are doing with the mig switch at the time of update.

If you have inserted the migswitch into your switch at any point in time with a pirated or public dump loaded in it, your switch will get banned shortly after the next time it goes online. The software in your switch keeps a history with all game keys and certificates that have ever been inserted in your switch, and will upload that history to nintendo when it goes online. If any of those game keys or certificates are invalid or come from pirated games, your switch will be banned.

Let me repeat again so you get it:
If you have ever had the migswitch inserted in your switch with pirated games or public dumps loaded on the mig, your switch can be considered banned. It does not matter whether you started the game or not. It does not matter whether the switch was online or not.

However, downloading system updates will work even on a banned switch.

Is there a way to delete the history with all game keys and certificates that were only used by the MIG Switch?

Would like to buy some games in eShop and make game updates for purchased games and eShop games.

No. Once you dirty your nand there is nothing you can do but wait for your ban

everybody please be patient, once the ns2 released, the ban wave will be over, and updates of mig games will be ready to be merged to original xci file, the tool for this job is HERE
no fear of ban anymore!

that's just not a thing. nsc builder wipes title key encryption when you merge update with xci and those xci just wont work on unmodified switch

Have you used or read about the MiG at all? You can’t use modified XCi games it refuses to read or even load them

What if I only delete the game and save data that was loaded and started with the MIG Switch?

What happens in this case if I reset the console to factory settings and go online, does the ban still appear?

It's difficult to cope with the fact that you've bought a useless product, isn't it.

The history is stored in the system partition of the switch, which will not be wiped by a factory reset. If you've had a migswitch in your switch with pirated games on it, your switch will be banned. End of story. There's nothing you can do about it.

Once your nand is dirty there is. Nothing you can do
I cleaned a "dirty nand" back in 2018/19 so that I could play Mario Maker when my clean NAND backup got corrupted. It's been 5+ years and i still haven't been banned so it's probably fine. Only thing that stinks about the Mig Switch is that the ppl who need to use a flashcart (like bawoiwe) probably can't use RCM to clean it.

People are overly-cautious with how likely Nintendo is to ban you for having a "flagged system". I remember people were making insane claims that Nintendo could see that your history was de-synced from their server or something and then ban you. Most of the people who got banned were just playing illegal dumps, changing their profile pictures, or using homebrew NSPs with their Wifi on and then didn't want to admit why they got banned.

@bawoiwe If you're desperate to play online, try to format the console, then enter the actual recovery mode (Volume up+down+power for a few seconds), update the firmware, and then format again. You might get banned from online at some point but if you're basically barred from playing online anyway who really cares?

That’s not cleaning your nand tho.

OP would need to flash a clean nand backup he made before he did any of the mig stuff

The creators behind the MIG Switch should have added this important information to their FAQ and described all scenarios from when a ban occurs. Miss Plug & Play.

Another question is whether the ban also appears if you first start the game on the MIG Switch from the public dump and later start the same game (same version, same region) on the original card?

If that doesn't work either, is it possible to clean the Nand without Nand backup of the individual games on a homebrew console?

I think the best way to make it work is to construct my terrain out of triangles and then delete those tris in my "deletion area"
