Physical game cartridge and digital DLC

Hello,
I have the physical copy of Captain Toad Treasure Tracker that I play on my banned OG Switch. I would like to get the DLC for the game, but since I am banned, and can't access the e-shop, would the DLC that I download by other means work with my physical copy of the game? And would I use Daybreak or DBI to install the DLC, or something else?

Great. Yeah, I had thought before that Daybreak and DBI could be the same thing.
So, it doesn't matter if you own a game and download the updates/DLC for it? Will this get you banned if your console is not already?
