Honestly, I always thought it wasn't because of the high crime rates, corruption, and how poorly some people are treated. The police force here seems more focused on oppression than protection, and it’s hard to ignore how many people are homeless or struggling. It feels like we’ve got so many problems that should’ve been addressed by now, but they keep getting swept under the rug. It’s wild.

I'm 34 and always thought 1st world countries were just Sweden, Japan, Switzerland, Germany, and similar countries. These nations seemed to embody the ideal of prosperity. Sweden’s progressive social policies, Japan’s cutting-edge technology, Switzerland’s inclusivity, and Germany’s efficiency and strong economy painted the picture of a perfect society. I admired their excellent healthcare systems, high living standards, and commitment to education - qualities that made them seem like the epitome of success.

The US, while a global superpower, has significant challenges compared to these countries. Its healthcare system is costly and inaccessible for many, and income inequality is stark. Education, while advanced, often lacks equal access. Gun violence, political polarization, and limited social safety nets are persistent issues. These problems contrast with the more equitable, socially progressive models seen in countries like Sweden and Japan, highlighting the US's struggle to balance prosperity with fairness.
