バッファロー（名古屋市中区、牧寛之社長）が製品の安定供給体制を維持するため、物流体制の見直しを図っている。物流の「２０２４年問題」に伴い、ドライバーへの荷渡し時間の短縮が求められていた中、出荷指示タイミングの変更などを実施。安定した供給体制の確保とともに、７―８％のコスト削減効果も見込む。今後もトラックの積載率向上への取り組みなど、さらなる改善に向けて検討を進める方針だ。
周辺機器とサプライ商品を同梱し、輸送コスト低減を図った
「当社製品の利用者は消費者のほか、機器の設置工事日程が定められている法人の顧客もいる。２４年問題の影響が懸念される中、安定供給を続けることが重要だ」。バッファロー経営管理部の松崎真也部長はこう指摘する。
日本国内では愛知県内の工場での製品生産後、外部の物流業者を活用し、出荷処理への対応、全国の顧客への商品の配送を行っている。こうした中、２３年には物流費の値上げと、ドライバーへの荷渡し時間の短縮を要請されていたという。
納品先の影響を最小限にしながら２４年問題に対応するため、関係者へのヒアリングを実施。そこで着目したのが製品の梱包方法だ。同社では従来、荷受け側の仕分け作業を考慮し、パソコンのマウスやキーボードなどのサプライ品と、Ｗｉ―Ｆｉ（ワイファイ）ルーターなどの周辺機器を分けて梱包していた。出荷する商品によっては箱に余白が生まれ、「空気を運んでいるような状態」（松崎部長）だったという。
今や荷受け側では商品の検品仕分けの自動化が進み、製品がカテゴリーごとに分かれている必要はない状況だ。各製品を一つの箱にまとめることで、資材費や運送コストの削減を実現した。
加えて実施したのが、出荷作業に関する情報を送信するタイミングである出荷バッチの集約だ。従来は、受注を受けた当日に商品を出荷する体制を基本とし、倉庫側では出荷情報を受け取るたびに荷役作業が発生していた。一方、納品先からは「納期を守る限りは、必ずしも即日出荷を行う必要はない」との声があり、出荷バッチを１日１回に集約する運用体制にも移行できた。
これら二つの施策で安定供給体制の維持だけでなく、７―８％の物流コスト削減も実現できる見通しだ。一方でトラックの積載率向上には改善の余地がある。今後も関係者との対話を続けながら、輸送回数の見直しや、長期的には同業との共同配送についても模索していきたい考えだ。
