King Charles congratulates Trump and cites ‘special relationship’

The King has congratulated President Trump on his inauguration in a message that is believed to reflect on the “enduring special relationship between the UK and US”.

The precise content of the message is private, as was the message Trump received from the late Queen on his first inauguration in 2017.

The King wrote a personal letter to Trump in July after an attempted assassination, dispatched via the British embassy in Washington.
