Thanks for the mod.

Hey, I know you said you won't make a mod for the pre-order exclusive skin but it's been years since the game came out and they never released it as an unlockeable or as a purchasable DLC. Is there any chance you would reconsider that decision?

Avatar

If I were to do it, it

  • wouldn't be uploaded here because it'd be against the rules.
  • probably wouldn't be done for a while since I'd actually have to reinstall the game/extract the files to verify DLC IDs then set up the patch.

If you could theoretically figure out what DLC ID it is, create the necessary dlc###.bin file, then theoretically trick Steam into thinking you own it, that'd probably be easier.

Avatar

@zdann Huh, I don't have the minor clue of how to do any of those things lol. I did find the DLC ID on Steamdb. It's "1029480". It also says "Last Change Number 11703200". Again, I wouldn't know what to do with that info.

Avatar

You can do this for the pre-order exclusives like the artoria in altera clothes skin?

Avatar

No, that was legitimately obtainable on PC and I won't be making a mod to unlock it.

Avatar

Awesome mod! Any chance you could do the same thing for the first game? It also had a bunch of exclusive costumes for preorders.

Avatar

I did actually look into this, but it'd be very difficult. The exclusive costumes in the first game aren't included in the files; they are actually a separate download. The console versions also use a somewhat different file format than the PC version, which makes things trickier.

Avatar

@Zdann Hmm, im sure there must be a way. Perhaps as a custom dlc, if we look at existing dlcs it should provide a hint. We'd have to get the files and convert them. I do think it's worth doing though.

Avatar

If anyone still plays this game, I updated the mod to make installation way easier. No more file extraction or 64-bit Java or whatever needed!

Avatar

Hi, I got the audio thing and tried to create the environment variable, but once it was crated, this popped up when trying to use the "drag-and-drop pk extract.bat"

Invalid maximum heap size: -Xmx4g
The specified size exceeds the maximum representable size.
Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.
Operation finished, press any key to close this window...

Hope you can help me out with this.

Avatar

You'll need the 64-bit version of Java, not the 32-bit version. I've updated the instructions accordingly.

Avatar

@Zdann All right, I'll check it out, thanks!

Avatar

Yeah, that solved the issue and I got the audio back, thanks again.

Avatar

I'm dragging the archive.pk onto the bat file, but I always get the error
"Error: out.listfiles() must not be null
Run with --stacktrace to get the full stack trace
Operation finished, press any key to close this window..."

Has anyone encountered this issue before?
I'm on Java x64 version 8 update 301

Sorry to bother, hope you're still active on here! I'm having trouble getting the costumes to unlock?

I have all Steam DLC purchased and enabled, if that makes a difference. I've successfully unpacked the game archive, I've managed to fix the tool running out of memory to restore my sound, I've downloaded this mod, extracted it to the main game directory (... steamapps/common/Fate Extella Link) and overwritten the required files. Whenever I open my game to check that it's installed properly, I check Nero's wardrobe and it always has the same five outfits I already have unlocked. Is there something I'm missing?

Avatar

Sorry for the late reply.

When you unpacked the game archive, did you move the unpacked files to your Extella Link directory? If you've done that, then you also need to backup/move the following files in resource/target/win/pack/mount/retail:
archive.pfs
archive.pk
archive.pkh

This is because the game will attempt to load files from here first. By moving them to a different directory, the game is forced to load the loose files instead.

Avatar

@Zdann It is fixed! Thank you so much, my mind just apparently completely blanked on moving those files out. The game works, has sound, and I have more outfits for Nero and Astolfo. You are a blessing to this world and have the patience of a saint. Thank you again!

Avatar

So could this work for Steam?

This does not unlock any of the DLC costumes available on the Steam page; you'll still have to purchase those

And by, 'work for Steam' I simply am curious about whether or not it's theoretically possible to get Nero's Unshackled Bride costume to work on Steam assuming one obtained the files.

Avatar

The costumes this mod unlocks were never available on Steam; that line is just clarifying that it won't unlock any paid DLC you can purchase on the Steam page.

The Unshackled Bride outfit is unlocked with this mod, in case you're wondering.

Avatar

can you give me video how to install this mods pls

Avatar

can you add me tell me more detail T_T

Avatar

Bit tricky to help you without more information. Did you move the "archive" files out of the retail directory?

Avatar

i follow all instuction why the list that dlc mods not show from settting

Avatar

thank you so much for replied my issues! you really are kind and the best for doing it and now it worked and with sound too! and i hope those who had same issues below could fix this by now when they seeing this, and again THANKS A LOT!!!!!

Avatar

I've posted a potential workaround for the sound issue in the description, let me know if it works for you.

Avatar

ok i got same issue as columbius, how to fix that?

Avatar

I have the same issue as ColumbiuS, no sound after moving the archive files away from the game folder. I swear I got a 64bit Java version, I'll check.

Avatar

I looked for everything on my pc and it says that I have 64-bit java now I restarted the pc and I go back to the process to see if everything is activated since the pc is not new but I restored it and had to download java again

Avatar

@"natsu.mutou"
Double check if you still have a 32-bit version of Java installed, it might be using that instead of the 64-bit version.

Avatar

I have the 64-bit java but it doesn't extract the sound files could you pass me the audio files that are extracted please?
