For the non-North American audience, Chex Quest was a freebie given away with the US equivalent of Shreddies. It was also an AOL tie-in. This was back in 1996. No doubt the original CD is a valuable antique in certain circles. This unofficial clone is surprisingly polished, although the samples have been badly converted (they have pops at the end). The graphics are vivid and the sound effects are demented (the 'demons' are a hoot). Infinitely better than fan-made manga Doom conversions.

XD I remember playing this game back when I was a kid.

FYI: The original CD came with a copy of AOL software. When the child beat the level, a splash screen would tell kids go online and get part 2. Very damn sneaky on the part of marketing. >:) As for the game, I rate it a 4. Enviroments look good, and the game is pretty solid. Not the most wowing, but memorable.

I think I remember this Doom mod. Just get Chex Quest 3 and load it into Skulltag. It has the first two CQ's and a third episode. Still, rated legendary (5/5).

DOOM for kids! Pretty fun to play, actually. The visuals/sounds are funny in a tougue-in-cheek way. Chex Quest 2 is pretty easy to find, use Google.

Let's face it. Doom without blood is like porn without nudity - it misses the whole point. That said, this looks like a good kid's game. Since my childhood was in the 1970s, I missed out on this one. I hope future generations can enjoy it more than I did. 3/5 from the kid in me.
