Pictures got deleted on their own.

I didn't do anything but a whole album got deleted and only a few pictures were moved to the Trash. When I tried to restore those images from Trash even they didn't make it back to the album.

I have no idea why Photos would delete pictures on its own. This seems like a horrific bug.

You all just go on with adding complaints without being aware that there is no Google here at all.
Just a few volunteers which can not help with such hopeless situations.

Hey Sudhir,

Thanks for posting in the Google Photos Support Community.

I understand and I'm be happy to help you further. Please give the below steps a try in a sequence to help resolve the issue:
  • Check your internet connection (mobile data).
  • Close the Google Photos app and re-launch it.
  • Sign out and sign back in to Google Photos with the same Google Account.
  • Clear App data:
    • Open your device's Settings app (not the Google Settings app).
    • Touch Apps.
    • Select Google Photos in the list.
    • Touch Clear data.
  • Update the Google Photos app on your Android phone:
    • Visit the Google Play Store.
    • Open Google Photos.
    • Touch on Update.
Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Amanda

Same problem. I just saved some photos and created a folder/moved them to it, and the folder is gone along with the photos

My photos where just deleted by Google. Some dialog popped up asking to clear clutter. Next thing I know my favorite photos from this entire year gets deleted with nothing left in trash and now my cloud back up are saying that I no longer have access to these photos since they have been deleted as well. Cannot believe this is happening.

For the last month or two I will take a pic and literally within a hour there gone. Not in trash nor in cloud . I did not delete them by mistake. Some time I will go to open a pic and it will quickly flash the pic slide it off the square and only display a exclamation point in a grey box where the pic just slid right off screen. This is horrible. I have also noticed that when I plug into my computer to save them there they don't appear there either. Just the grey box with explanation point. Guess its time to look at Apple 🍎.  Witch I hate the platform . But at least the pics I take won't vanish. Once in a lifetime events are just gone. No getting those moments back or repeating them to take more pics.

To have all my pictures back
Nov 23, 2020
I have put my photo on Google Drive for years. A few months ago I suddenly found out all my folders disappeared. I tried to recover them from Google drive and Google photo. I didn't have any success. At that time I realized that I am not alone. I have read many complains posted from 2018-2020. Does Google do anything to change? Do we have to do anything to change google?  I do tell all people I know not to put photos in google photo if they don't want to loss them.

I have same issues regarding photos and videos. There are some videos i took from honeymoon and all of them are just gone without any notification. I'm willing to sue Google if something isn't done. I don't think this is a small problem. What's going on??

same thing is happening to me. I recently downloaded the app on my phone (iPhone 8) and when I went to upload some photos into google photos to clear up space on my phone the next day I opened the app back up and saw that the photos weren't there anymore. i didn't close the app out, I left it open still just incase it'll mess up anything if i close it out because i uploaded a lot of photos.

All I did was create a new album, upload the photos from my phone into those new albums, and the next day or a couple of hours those photos were gone. it is not in the trash or anything just poof disappeared.

The same thing happened to me. I had photos saved on my device (phone) and had just moved them into two new folders. The next day they all gone. Neither folder was backed up, but I never deleted then or clicked any option to clear space. It seems like Google decided to delete them from my device for no apparent reason without asking me.

Same thing has happened to me twice now in the past two weeks. For me, it's my meme collection that keeps disappearing, which isn't a huge deal, but it's frustrating that this bug exists. Anytime I create a new folder and move files from my downloads into that folder, it appears to work at first, but by the next day, all those files are mysteriously missing. They aren't in the trash, they aren't in any other folder, they are nowhere to be found on my phone's file explorer, they are just gone. My recommendation is DO NOT create your own folders on Google photos for anything that is important to you- the files will disappear.
