Kathy Kohner Zuckerman was lying belly down on a longboard, with well-known surfboard shaper Mike Doyle paddling behind her.
The spring wetsuit she was wearing was foreign and uncomfortable — they didn’t have them back when she used to surf. It was 1996, and she had only been on a surfboard once in the past 35 years.
