✅Now that Smart Contracts have been released on @xelis_project Testnet, the team has identified several areas for improvement and exciting features to enhance the ecosystem. 🌐
Here’s a breakdown of the updates and plans:
⚡Fast Sync Improvements: Enhancements are being developed to support better contract storage, improving scalability and usability for the network.
📝Token Standard Mechanism: Plans are underway to introduce a token standard mechanism, enabling robust and flexible interactions within the Silex ecosystem.
⛽Gas Fee Adjustments: Gas fees will be adjusted to strike the right balance for a healthy economy:
-Prevent attacks by avoiding costs that are too low.
-Ensure accessibility by avoiding fees that are too high.
🧠Memory Usage Limits: Caps on memory usage are being designed to prevent exploits where excessive memory could crash low-end nodes, ensuring stability across the network.
📲System Calls Enhancements:
-Adding support for cryptographic functions like Blake3 and SHA256.
-Potential integration of Elliptic Curve cryptography to simplify development by providing a direct API. This ensures much better performance as it will execute in Rust instead of within the VM.
💻Entry System Rework:
-Contracts will be able to return any value instead of just an exit code.
-Enables inter-contract communication via entry points.
-Introduces API functions with limited gas, allowing Smart Contracts to expose RPC-like APIs, making them versatile and easier to integrate with external systems.
👨💻VSCode Extension: A newly developed VSCode extension is now as feature-full as the VSCode Rust extension.
