I remember as a kid hearing old people say nothing was like the good ol’ days and wondering what the hell they meant because everything new was so cool and amazing. New tech, new advancements, how could you not like this?

if you ever played around with electronics, you'd quickly realise that costs of physical controls quickly add up. you can make a mid-sized switchboard with an arduino for the same price chinks make fully functioning smartphones. same with cars, a touchscreen is just the cheapest way to consolidate controls, nothing else comes close. with electronics as cheap as they are now, it is the peak of optimisation, it's the bootleg casio for 10 bucks to simplified mechanical seiko for $50.

As a kid I used to love sports cars. Small, lightweight two seaters were my favourite. Dream car was a Lotus Elise. Got all excited about owning one once I was grown up.

Now I can finally buy a car the market is all so…bleh. Nobody buys two seater sports cars any more and fewer are being made because people want big ugly SUVs. Then here come the electric cars that aren’t nearly as engaging to drive. Then Jaguar fucking yeets its heritage for whatever the fuck they’re now trying to do.

I see MG attempting to make an electric two seater but it’ll be an undriveable Chinese piece of shit. I hope to be able to afford the last manual BMW Z4 before we’re forced to drive electric.
